“sweet dreams of Christmas” altered book class

at long last! all the deets for my “Sweet Dreams of Christmas” altered book class!

“Sweet Dreams of Christmas” is next in my series of altered book classes and the third Christmas themed book. the book features papers from Graphic 45′s latest Christmas collection… Nutcracker Sweet and inks and more from Clearsnap.

also featured are lots of one of a kind, dare you to try to find them, vintage treasures that i’ve spent hours scouring flea markets, estate sales and online sites to find just for you, to make this project special.

i’ll show you techniques that i’ve created to take the “complicated” out of making altered books. techniques that you can use to make altered books of your own design.

refreshments will be served about halfway through the class.

the class will be held at Stamp Antonio on sunday, november 11 from 12:30 to 5:30, cost will be $48. please call Stamp Antonio at 210-764-7900 to sign up or for more info. if you called and left your number to get on the list, you should have received a call today to officially sign you up. if you did not get a call, please call back to double check!

something sweet…

i want to share an upcoming class project with you…

i’ve just finished up my newest altered book…

“sweet dreams of christmas”…

i’ve been working on it for days; trying to add all those special little touches that you have come to expect and using as MANY goodies from my vintage stash as possible!

here’s a peek at the latest book in my series of altered books and the third christmas themed book in the collection…

this class will be taught at Stamp Antonio; i will be working with them to set a date and time and will post all the details when available.

update: “by the sea” altered book class

at long last i have set a date and time for the next book in my altered book series… “by the sea”…

this book is a beautiful way to showcase your beach photos whether they are new or vintage, the islands or padre island.

there are some new pockets and folds as well as new techniques to share. and we’ll be playing several products from Clearsnap too.

and as always, there are LOTS of goodies from my vintage stash incorporated in this book. we will embellishing the front cover with some small shells, so if you have some special ones, you may want to bring them along to use.

upcoming class info…

this saturday, april 21st – will be a day of crafting fun with REMINISCE papers and embellies at SCRAPBOOK N’ MORE in new braunfels…

classes include 2 layout classes – Disney & Easter themed – and the cost of each 2 page layout is only $10! everything is cut, all you have to do is put it together! {kits for this class available if you can’t make it; just tell Susan when you sign up}. take one or BOTH!

then, we’ll be making a Disney themed altered book, with lots of Reminisce goodies! you’ll get 2 cardstock sticker sheets and 1 – 12 X 12 cardstock sticker sheet to embellish your book with! don’t worry if you haven’t taken one of my altered book classes yet, i’d consider this one a “beginner” altered book class. but i think those of you who have taken one of my other book classes will enjoy the project too! there are still a few spots left, so please call {830}214-1690 to sign up if you are interested!

then, on sunday, may 6th, i’ll be teaching this Mother’s Day Box of Boxes class at STAMP ANTONIO…

we’ll transform an 8 X 10 box of boxes into a unique gift for mom for mother’s day using LOTS of great products from Clearsnap. you’ll get to play with Smooch Accent Inks, Smooch Spritz, Smooch Glitz, Fairy Dust Glitter, Design Adhesives and Designer Foils just to name a few. i’ve included plenty of trinkets from my vintage stash too — vintage buttons, old chandelier crystals, bottle caps, handmade vintage lace, junque jewelry bits, old art supplies, dried roses and more. i’ll also bring along more great chachkies for you to select from to help tailor your project for the recipient. other products used include: printed papers by Glitz, Bazzill Antique Book Papers and stamps from Paper Wing Productions. this project would also be perfect for daughters, sisters, grandmothers, friends or as a remembrance piece. the sample is now at Stamp Antonio if you’d like to see it in person. cost of this class is $35 and space is limited. so please call 210-764-7900 to sign up or for more info.

let’s Reminisce all day…

i’ll be holding a FULL day of classes featuring products by REMINISCE on saturday, april 21 at Scrapbook N’ More in new braunfels…

first, you can come and go anytime between 9:30 and 12:00 and make one or both of these layouts for only $10 each! you can’t buy the supplies to make them for that!

here’s a peak at the Disney Layout…

you have your choice of title — either disney or mickey…

and here’s a look at the Easter Layout…

please note that stickers on either layout may vary…

if you’d like to take a look at these layouts in person, you can view them at Scrapbook N’ More.

then, from 1:00 to 4:00, we’ll be making a Disney aLteReD book…

the cost of this class is only $35, and includes everything you need to make it except the glue! also included in the class fee is a 12 X 12 flower sticker sheet and 2 – cardstock embellie sticker sheets! if you haven’t taken an altered book class before, don’t worry. i’ve developed some techniques to make it quick and easy. if you HAVE taken some of my altered book classes, then you’ll be able to put this together in NO time as it’s an easier version of my books. great way to display the BEST photos from your Disney trip or trips!

it’s my 400th post!!!

and… it’s about my upcoming classes…

this tuesday, march 27, i’ll be at Scrapbook N’ More in new braunfels teaching PhotoFull and Money $aving Sketches from 10:30 to 1:30. we tried something new last month, and it seemed to work, so we are doing it again. you can come and go anytime between the hours of 10:30 and 1:30 and you can sign up to take either class or BOTH! the crop room will be open after 1:30, so you are also welcome to stay and work on finishing up your layouts after that.

as far as photos go…

for PhotoFull:

bring 20+ photos with the majority being horizontal

*** this is ANOTHER REALLY BIG layout! so bring that BIG stack of photos that you have been avoiding! if you have a REALLY REALLY BIG stack, this layout can be easily extended to add even MORE photos!

and for Money $aving $ketches:

one sketch has room for 5 photos and the other holds 7.  the photo sizes are 4 X 6 and 4 X 4′s. most of the 4 X 6′s are horizontal, and the 4 X 4′s can be either verticals or horizontal photos – you can crop either to fit the 4 X 4′s.

remember that your supplies ARE included in these class fees for both these classes, so you’ll get to select your own papers to match your photos!

other class news…

PhotoFull and Money $aving $ketches classes will be on thursday, april 5 and i’m working on getting the samples finished – so more on them later!

i also have a mother’s day class in the works at Stamp Antonio – it is scheduled for sunday, may 6 – time TBA and i’m still working on the sample for that as well.

i can tell you that i’m excited about the concept… we’ll be altering tim holtz confiquration boxes using LOTS of different Clearsnap products. i’m thinking of this class as a “play day”. my plan is to bring inks, glitters, Smooch, Smooch Spritz and Glitz along with some little goodies from my vintage stash, so that you can pick and chose what you like and really customize and personalize your finished project to YOUR mom.

a date for the beach altered book has not been set yet, i didn’t want to get too far ahead of myself, and i’m still waiting on some special little bits and pieces that i ordered to finish up the book.

i’ve also been hitting the internet, flea markets and estate sales to hunt for MORE trinkets and treasures and i’ve made quite a few good finds lately. maybe i’ll post some pics to let you see what goodies i’ve got to use for future altered project.

well, that’s it for now, i guess i’ll start working on getting to my 500th post!

not one but TWO new altered book classes!

for those of you who enjoy creating altered books, i have 2 upcoming classes that may be of interest to you…

i have designed not one but TWO new altered books to add to my series of classes on altered books.

i’ll be teaching this Disney themed altered book, created using papers and embellishments from Reminisce’s Real Magic Line, at Scrapbook N’ More in New Braunfels on April 21…

i would consider this a “beginner” altered book, so if you haven’t taken a class like this before, but are interested in learning how to make altered books, this would be a great class to start with.

you get lots of fun embellies with the class too! a full 12 X 12 sticker sheet of the flower stickers, and 2 other sticker sheet sets, in addition to the other papers, ribbons and of course the book! you can sign up for the class, or get more info by calling {830} 214 1690.

i am working on making this a full “Disney Day“, including a Disney Layouts Class and FREE Disney Make & Take, so stay tuned for more details.

and then, i’ll be teaching this Beach Altered Book, which features papers from Graphic 45′s Tropical Travelogue line and embellies from my vintage stash!

i’ll be teaching this class at Stamp Antonio, but haven’t set a date yet. so stay tuned for more details! i haven’t quite finished it up either, i am waiting on some coordinating stamps and some beach-themed charms to be delivered. but i’ll give you a peek at what i have finished….

this book would be a fabulous way to display your photos from any tropical beach locale from hawaii to corpus christi! keep an eye on my blog for a time and date for this class!

i am also IN LOVE with the new Olde Curiosity Shoppe line by Graphic 45; which is a VERY whimsical vintage-inspired line. i have been debating doing an altered book using this line, but haven’t found just the right direction for it that would make everything “click”. do you like this line? any thoughts for a theme for a book using this line? would you be interested in an altered book class using this line? i’d love to hear from you if you have any comments you’d like to share!

christmas classes…

if you’ve got some time for crafting this holiday season, i have 2 class offerings for you…

both feature Graphic 45′s Christmas Emporium line and Clearsnap products…

there are still a few spots left in my CHRISTMAS SPIRIT altered book class that i’ll be teaching at Stamp Antonio on sunday, december 4th… 

this book is part of my series of altered books and includes some new folds and ideas. a free follow up class will be offered on december 15 to give you an opportunity to finish up any details that we don’t get to complete in class.

and on saturday, december 10th, i’ll be teaching MERRY OL’ CHRISTMAS altered ATC tray at Scrapbook N’ More in new braunfels…

in this class, we’ll be create a vintage-inspired Christmas Décor’ piece that you will enjoy displaying for years to come. papers from Graphic 45’s Christmas Emporium line, products from Clearsnap, and goodies from my vintage and not so vintage stash will be used to turn an ATC tray from plain to fabulous! lots of tiny details that will have you and your guests noticing something new each time you look at it.

you will need to chose black or winter white for the color of the tray when you sign up, so call early to ensure you get the color you want. please call Scrapbook N’ More at (830) 214-1690 or e-mail susan at create@scrapbooknmore.net for more information or to sign up. Scrapbook N’ More had been having trouble with their phone lines, so please e-mail if you can’t reach them by phone.

class info

hi all…

as the holidays approach, i am going to be gearing down my classes. i’d LIKE to be gearing UP! it is the CRAFTING time of year; but i realize that as hectic as things are right now, they are only going to be MORE so as the end of the year approaches.

SO – there will be no montly classes – ie: photoFULL and money $aving $ketches until january. sorry – but NO december classes. but NO whining — attendence has been down the last few months because everyone IS getting busier at this time of the year – and you know YOU’LL be busy too! but, i do have both classes scheduled for november – november 29 – at Scrapbooks N’ More in new braunfels. the photos of the layouts and supplies needed for both classes can be found HERE for photoFULL and HERE for money $aving $ketches. you can also find the links for the info in my sidebar under “class photos, descriptions and supplies.”

i am teaching the “Christmas Spirit” altered book class at Stamp Antonio on December 4. and this time we are going to try adding a FREE follow-up class on december 14. it will be a chance for you to finish up anything we didn’t get to in class. the sample book is NOW at Stamp Antonio if you’d like to go by and see it. i’ve added some new tricks for those of you who have taken one or more in my series of altered books. space for this class is limited due to my supply of vintage goodies; so please sign up soon if you are interested, or call Stamp Antonio for more info. if you have already signed up, you can get the supply list HERE – there is a link for it in my sidebar under “class photos, descriptions and supplies.”

class and crop notes

i have updated my class info for september and you can find ALL the dates for the various locations i teach at on the sidebar on the left. i have also added a new bar for SCRAPBOOK STUDIO, and all classes and crops for that location, whether they are taught by me or not, will be posted there.

here are some highlights for september:

9/3: 6th Annual Shirley Young Memorial Crop:

To celebrate the life of the incomparable Shirley Young, Scrapbook Studio is joining forces with The Scrapbooking Factory to host a “Six-Pack & A Crop”. Even if you never met her, please join us to make 6 two-page layouts and crop for 15 hours, all for the low price of $40. This also includes a goody bag, friendship and fun!!! What a deal!!!

i have added an afternoon PhotoFULL class since it has been VERY MUCH requested! i am hoping that all of you who have requested it will now make plans to attend! LOL! the afternoon and evening classes will feature the exact same project – so don’t think you need to attend both! but maybe having the afternoon option will be more convenient for some of you.

9/27: PhotoFULL and Money $aving $ketches classes at Scrapbook N’ More…

also as requested, i have begun teaching my 2 monthly classes at Scrapbook N’ More in new braunfels. these classes will feature the SAME projects that are offered earlier in the month at Stamp Antonio. so if Scrapbook N’ More is a more convenient location for you, OR if you usually attend classes at Stamp Antonio and the dates in a given month don’t work for you, now you have an option! this works vice versa too!

9/30: Cards to “Dye” for class at Stamp Antonio…

and for those of you who have asked about card classes, i am slated to do one at the end of the month at Stamp Antonio. you’ll make 3 cards, each one demonstrating a different technique using ColorBox’s new Archival Dye inks. i’ll have pics of samples up soon. this class will be a version of the class i taught for Clearsnap at CHA.

SCRAPBOOK STUDIO notes…

the schedule for crops for the remainder of the year is now up at the SCRAPBOOK STUDIO website under the “classes” tab. BUT, please be sure to double check dates as events get closer, since they are being announced so far in advance, they are SUBJECT TO CHANGE. we have added a new crop, the “kit r’ dun” crop! this crop is designed specifically to give you time to assemble Scrapbook Studio kits that you have purchased! we don’t want you letting kits pile up, we want you to put them together, get photos on them and get them in your albums. with that in mind, this crop is ABSOLUTELY FREE! the only requirement is that you work on SCRAPBOOK STUDIO kits during the crop!

FUTURE CLASSES…

a few things that are in the works are kids classes, christmas, disney and school themed altered book classes. whens and wheres will be announced as the details are finalized.
