new class! “french country” recipe binder

hello!

i have a new class to introduce! “french country” recipe binder…

2013-05 cookbook binder - collage

in this class we will be deconstructing {a nice way of saying TEARING UP} a vintage book and transforming it into a recipe binder. and for those of you have taken my altered book classes before – this is NOTHING like my altered book classes! this is something totally NEW!

so if you have a big stash of clipped recipes, or have been wanting to document some of your family’s favorite recipes, this class is for you! the binder can hold a TON of recipes, and you’ll have space to make comments or notes about the recipes too. there are 7 sections in the binder: appetizers, soups & salads, main dishes, side dishes, breads, desserts and beverages.

the “recipes” title piece on the cover, and the divider tabs were all designed and custom made for this project. they are made from a special, printable shrink film made by GRAFIX and have the feel of a matte clay when finished.

we’ll also be using some products from CLEARSNAP to embellish the binder. ColorBox Chalk Inks tint the shrink plastic pieces, the Jumbo Rollagraph and Jumbo Design Wheel, Watermark Ink and Top Boss Clear Embossing Powder will add a subtle pattern and dimension to the title pages that were also designed specially for this project. and Smooch Illuminate, that will add some glimmer and shine to the cover.

the class will be held at SCRAPBOOK N’ MORE in New Braunfels on saturday, june 8 from 1:30 to 5:00, cost is $35. space for this class is limited, so please sign up early if you are interested. you can sign up or get more information by calling Scrapbook n’ More at (830) 214-1690.

thanks!

vintage calendar box class…

i have a new class to announce – i’ve finished the project that i posted a “teaser” about the other day…

i found some fabulously shabby little white boxes during my trip to canton, i thought they would be perfect for some type of calendar project, but didn’t have anything definite in mind.

BUT, graphic 45 MUST have read my mind as they released their “place in time” collection shortly afterward! perfect timing!

here’s a look at the finished “vintage calendar box”…

the box includes 12 sets of the following, one set for each month:

  • tag with monthly calendar
  • “day-by-day” booklet for jotting down the days events
  • birthday calendar – to list friends and family b-days
  • birthday gift list – to keep track of gift ideas and purchases
  • “offers” envelope for coupons and gift cards

in addition to papers and embellies from Graphic 45′s “place in time” line, there are lots of items from my vintage stash.  there are also custom made items i designed just for this project using vintage ephemera from my collection.

and although the box is labeled as 2013, you can use it year after year. the dates on the calendar tags are in pencil, so they can be refreshed each year. and i’ll provide the class a master copy of the vintage office papers for the “day-by-day” booklet.

this would make a fabulously thoughtful gift for the holidays – if you can part with it! and since the class is early in december, you’ll have plenty of time to finish it and get it wrapped or shipped of if you are gifting it.

the class will be held at Stamp Antonio on sunday, december 2 from 12:00 to 4:00; cost is $55.

if you are interested in this class, please call Stamp Antonio at 210-764-7900. space for this class is VERY limited as i only have 12 boxes. there may be a possibility of getting more made, but that is NOT definite.

this class, along with the two classes i am teaching at Scrapbook N’ More in new braunfels will be the last 3 specialty classes i’ll be teaching til next year.

the two classes at Scrapbook N’ More will both be held on saturday, december 1…

countdown 2 christmas: a countdown calendar featuring papers by Bo Bunny, inks and more from Clearsnap, ephemera from Gecko Galz, vintage yardsticks and lots of goodies from my vintage stash…

and fabulous finds pendant and necklace class: you’ll create a one-of-a kind fashion piece that will be uniquely your own to gift or keep. you’ll have access to tons of jewelry bits vintage and new from ”broken-but-beautiful” pieces, watch parts, charms and more…

if you are interested in either of these classes, please contact Scrapbook N’ More at {830} 214-1690 for more info or to sign up.

thanks!

the clock strikes again…

i taught the halloween tryptic “stroke of midnight” at scrapbook n’ more today; the attendees left with hands covered in alternating layers of glue, ink and feathers! but they also left with a halloween decor piece to display!

for those of you who missed it, guess what — you DIDN’T! due to requests, i will be teaching this same class again at Stamp Antonio on sunday, october 7. the date is set, but the time is TBA. it will be in the afternoon and run 4-4 1/2 hours.  i’ll post again as soon as the time is decided on.

i’ll only have 12 spots, so if you are interested, please sign up soon. this class is not hard, but there are lots of parts and pieces, so kits may be a challenge.

thanks!

not one but TWO new altered book classes!

for those of you who enjoy creating altered books, i have 2 upcoming classes that may be of interest to you…

i have designed not one but TWO new altered books to add to my series of classes on altered books.

i’ll be teaching this Disney themed altered book, created using papers and embellishments from Reminisce’s Real Magic Line, at Scrapbook N’ More in New Braunfels on April 21…

i would consider this a “beginner” altered book, so if you haven’t taken a class like this before, but are interested in learning how to make altered books, this would be a great class to start with.

you get lots of fun embellies with the class too! a full 12 X 12 sticker sheet of the flower stickers, and 2 other sticker sheet sets, in addition to the other papers, ribbons and of course the book! you can sign up for the class, or get more info by calling {830} 214 1690.

i am working on making this a full “Disney Day“, including a Disney Layouts Class and FREE Disney Make & Take, so stay tuned for more details.

and then, i’ll be teaching this Beach Altered Book, which features papers from Graphic 45′s Tropical Travelogue line and embellies from my vintage stash!

i’ll be teaching this class at Stamp Antonio, but haven’t set a date yet. so stay tuned for more details! i haven’t quite finished it up either, i am waiting on some coordinating stamps and some beach-themed charms to be delivered. but i’ll give you a peek at what i have finished….

this book would be a fabulous way to display your photos from any tropical beach locale from hawaii to corpus christi! keep an eye on my blog for a time and date for this class!

i am also IN LOVE with the new Olde Curiosity Shoppe line by Graphic 45; which is a VERY whimsical vintage-inspired line. i have been debating doing an altered book using this line, but haven’t found just the right direction for it that would make everything “click”. do you like this line? any thoughts for a theme for a book using this line? would you be interested in an altered book class using this line? i’d love to hear from you if you have any comments you’d like to share!

i have an e-mail list just for gals who enjoy altered book classes and want to be sure they hear about any new altered book classes. if that description fits you, please click the “contact me” tab at the top, send me your e-mail addy and ask me to add you to that list.

thanks!
