important update about monthly classes…

hi all,

i appreciate all of you who come to my monthly classes: PhotoFull and Money $aving $ketches, each month at Stamp Antonio and Scrapbook N’ More.

in an effort to try to make sure that everyone is prepared for class and knows ahead of time what they will need, supply-wise and photo-wise, i have tried to streamline this info. i have added “CLASS INFO” headers for each class at each store on the left sidebar under the “class photos, supplies and descriptions” header.

this info will list the basic supplies and photos you will need for class each month. if the layout design dictates items that vary for a given month, i’ll add that info in a special blog post. but i will try to create the layouts around the supplies listed to try to keep them consistant. hopefully this will make it easier for all of you to prep for class each month.

i will not be adding photos of the layouts to the blog each month as i had in the past. also, charlotte who has taken over planning M$$ for me, is doing the directions along the same line as she had done when she was teaching her sketch class at scrapbook 911. the sketches will be on one side of the sheet, and the supplies and cutting directions will be on the other. charlotte doesn’t include a photo of her actual sample layouts, but you are more than welcome to take a pic using your phone or camera.

it’s been a year now that i’ve been teaching these classes at our new “homes”; stamp antonio and scrapbook n’ more. i appreciate both of these stores accomidating and welcoming our group in order to keep the fun going!

i am hoping that my efforts to create a comprehensive supply list for each class, and to try to stick to it, will make it easier on all of you, and you’ll know what to expect each month.

my schedule has definitely changed this past year. i’ve taken on more and more freelance design work to balance out the smaller class sizes. unfortunately whether i teach a class to 2 or 200, the time and effort i put into designing, prepping and direction-writing for my classes does not change a whole lot. so i need to find ways to make everything run smoother. i don’t want a heavy work schedule on my end to cause problems to my students due to lack of info about a class.

in the past, i haven’t always been able to post class info enough in advance, and i’ve felt the guilt and pressure of that! LOL! so hopefully having the same info month to month will help everyone.

i enjoy hearing comments from students about how much they are able to accomplish in these classes, and how they are able to incorporate what they learn in their own pages. that’s what keeps me wanting to keep these classes going. when they become uneffective or uninspiring then it will be time to bring them to an end.

class info for PhotoFULL & M$$ at Scrapbook n’ More

i’ll be having both my money $aving $ketches class and photoFull classes at Scrapbook n’ More, this tuesday, may 29. remember that you can take one or both classes during our scheduled class time. you are also welcome to stay and crop or finish up your class projects after class.

please bring the following with you in addition to your basic kit:

money $aving $ketches: 2 sets of 8-10 photos that coordinate, or 1 set of 16-20 photos of the same event. mix of vertical and horizontal photos and some should be croppable. you may not use all your photos, but bringing more than you need will allow you to pick and chose those that will work best. one sketch does utilize 4 X 4 photo mats.

photoFull: 1 set of 25+ photos -  mostly horizontal and about 5 or 6 vertical, and a few that are croppable.

all the papers and cardstocks you need are included in your class fee. please call Scrapbook n’ More at (830) 214-1690 to sign up or for more info.

it’s my 400th post!!!

and… it’s about my upcoming classes…

this tuesday, march 27, i’ll be at Scrapbook N’ More in new braunfels teaching PhotoFull and Money $aving Sketches from 10:30 to 1:30. we tried something new last month, and it seemed to work, so we are doing it again. you can come and go anytime between the hours of 10:30 and 1:30 and you can sign up to take either class or BOTH! the crop room will be open after 1:30, so you are also welcome to stay and work on finishing up your layouts after that.

as far as photos go…

for PhotoFull:

bring 20+ photos with the majority being horizontal

*** this is ANOTHER REALLY BIG layout! so bring that BIG stack of photos that you have been avoiding! if you have a REALLY REALLY BIG stack, this layout can be easily extended to add even MORE photos!

and for Money $aving $ketches:

one sketch has room for 5 photos and the other holds 7.  the photo sizes are 4 X 6 and 4 X 4′s. most of the 4 X 6′s are horizontal, and the 4 X 4′s can be either verticals or horizontal photos – you can crop either to fit the 4 X 4′s.

remember that your supplies ARE included in these class fees for both these classes, so you’ll get to select your own papers to match your photos!

other class news…

PhotoFull and Money $aving $ketches classes will be on thursday, april 5 and i’m working on getting the samples finished – so more on them later!

i also have a mother’s day class in the works at Stamp Antonio – it is scheduled for sunday, may 6 – time TBA and i’m still working on the sample for that as well.

i can tell you that i’m excited about the concept… we’ll be altering tim holtz confiquration boxes using LOTS of different Clearsnap products. i’m thinking of this class as a “play day”. my plan is to bring inks, glitters, Smooch, Smooch Spritz and Glitz along with some little goodies from my vintage stash, so that you can pick and chose what you like and really customize and personalize your finished project to YOUR mom.

a date for the beach altered book has not been set yet, i didn’t want to get too far ahead of myself, and i’m still waiting on some special little bits and pieces that i ordered to finish up the book.

i’ve also been hitting the internet, flea markets and estate sales to hunt for MORE trinkets and treasures and i’ve made quite a few good finds lately. maybe i’ll post some pics to let you see what goodies i’ve got to use for future altered project.

well, that’s it for now, i guess i’ll start working on getting to my 500th post!

march 1 classes at stamp antonio…

here’s what you need to bring to class this thursday…

PhotoFull:

2 sheets of cardstock for background – same

3 sheets of cardstock for matting – 2 of 1 color plus 1 of another

2 sheets of printed paper

20+ photos with the majority being horizontal

Money $aving $ketches:

4 sheets of cardstock for background

2 sheets of cardtock for matting

class news…

beginning in february, Charlotte Bellm will be planning the Money Saving Sketch Classes…

this will mainly affect the monthly classes at STAMP ANTONIO for the time being…

in an effort to try to free up my schedule a bit, charlotte has agreed to design and plan for the Money Saving Sketch class. the format will remain the same, create one layout, then use the leftover supplies to create another. so you’ll still get 2 – 2 page layouts using 1 set of materials – cut once get TWO! the number of photos per layout will stay the same as the guideline i’d used, 6-10 photos per each 2 page layout.

another change we are making is that you can take EITHER or BOTH classes at either class time. meaning you can now take PhotoFull in the morning if you like, or Money $aving $ketches in the evening. and if you are very industrious, you can take BOTH classes in the morning, or BOTH classes in the evening.

i will be teaching the morning class – 10:30 to 12:30 and charlotte will be teaching the evening class from 6:00 to 8:00. the classroom will also be open between the 2 classes for cropping – AS LONG AS YOU ARE TAKING ONE OF THE CLASSES. so you can take the morning class, and stay and crop and work on your layouts until the evening class, or you can come early before the evening class and get some extra crop time in. and if you’d like to make a day of it, GREAT! sign up for both classes and you can stay and play ALL DAY!

i realize some of this information might be confusing, so if you have ANY questions, please just drop me an e-mail using the “contact me” tab at the top of the blog.

i am hoping this change will freshen up both classes and make them more enjoyable for you!

Classes at Scrapbook n’ More

i’ll be at Scrapbook n’ More for 2 classes tomorrow – hopefully a few of you signed up!

PhotoFull is up first at 10:00, and it will be a BIG one, so bring at least 20+ photos with you.

if you scroll down to the 1/11/12 post, you can get a peek at the Money Saving Sketches layouts which starts at 1:00. you’ll need about 10 photos for each of the 2 -2 page layouts we’ll do.

you get to select your own papers for BOTH of these classes – included in the $15 class fee – so your layouts will look different than mine.

call up a scrapping buddy and bring them along for a morning and or/ afternoon of scrapbooking! you’ll get a lot done in either of these classes!

class info

hi all…

as the holidays approach, i am going to be gearing down my classes. i’d LIKE to be gearing UP! it is the CRAFTING time of year; but i realize that as hectic as things are right now, they are only going to be MORE so as the end of the year approaches.

SO – there will be no montly classes – ie: photoFULL and money $aving $ketches until january. sorry – but NO december classes. but NO whining — attendence has been down the last few months because everyone IS getting busier at this time of the year – and you know YOU’LL be busy too! but, i do have both classes scheduled for november – november 29 – at Scrapbooks N’ More in new braunfels. the photos of the layouts and supplies needed for both classes can be found HERE for photoFULL and HERE for money $aving $ketches. you can also find the links for the info in my sidebar under “class photos, descriptions and supplies.”

i am teaching the “Christmas Spirit” altered book class at Stamp Antonio on December 4. and this time we are going to try adding a FREE follow-up class on december 14. it will be a chance for you to finish up anything we didn’t get to in class. the sample book is NOW at Stamp Antonio if you’d like to go by and see it. i’ve added some new tricks for those of you who have taken one or more in my series of altered books. space for this class is limited due to my supply of vintage goodies; so please sign up soon if you are interested, or call Stamp Antonio for more info. if you have already signed up, you can get the supply list HERE – there is a link for it in my sidebar under “class photos, descriptions and supplies.”

i am also working on a Christmas themed ATC tray using the G45 Christmas Emporium line for Scrapbooks N’ More in new braunfels. it will hopefully be finished by this weekend.

classes at scrapbook n’ more…

i’ll be holding my 2 monthly layout classes at SCRAPBOOK N’ MORE in new braunfels on tuesday, october 25th…

MONEY $AVING $KETCHES is from 10-12 am…

you’ll get TWO sketches, and pick one set of supplies – then all you have to do it cut once and you get BOTH layouts! quick & easy! keep in mind that you select your own papers, so only the placement of the pieces will be the same as the sample.

then from 1-3 i’ll teach PHOTOFULL…

this is a BIG, BIG, BIG photofull! it’s another “three” page layout – a fun and unique little concept i’ve come up with – so it holds a TON of photos! with the holidays coming up, you are sure to need options for getting stacks of photos scrapped, so make plans to come check it out. and like with Money $aving $ketches, you get to select your own papers.

classes tomorrow at Stamp Antonio…

after taking august off {HAH!}, i’m ready to pick back up with classes again!

tomorrow, i’ll be at STAMP ANTONIO teaching my 2 monthly classes – Money $aving $ketches and PhotoFULL…

if you click on the links under the “class photos, descriptions and supplies” heading in the left sidebar {right under the snow angel blinkie}, you’ll see photos of the projects as well as the supply lists.

i am trying out an afternoon PhotoFULL class this month. it will be the EXACT same project taught in the evening class, just earlier for those of you who prefer to come earlier or can’t make it in the evening.

also keep in mind, that these same classes, Money $aving $ketches and PhotoFULL will be repeated at Scrapbooks N’ More in New Braunfels on 9/27. the exact same projects will be taught, so no need to come to classes at both stores, but it’s an option if you can’t make it to Stamp Antonio tomorrow.

class and crop notes

i have updated my class info for september and you can find ALL the dates for the various locations i teach at on the sidebar on the left. i have also added a new bar for SCRAPBOOK STUDIO, and all classes and crops for that location, whether they are taught by me or not, will be posted there.

here are some highlights for september:

9/3: 6th Annual Shirley Young Memorial Crop:

To celebrate the life of the incomparable Shirley Young, Scrapbook Studio is joining forces with The Scrapbooking Factory to host a “Six-Pack & A Crop”. Even if you never met her, please join us to make 6 two-page layouts and crop for 15 hours, all for the low price of $40. This also includes a goody bag, friendship and fun!!! What a deal!!!

i have added an afternoon PhotoFULL class since it has been VERY MUCH requested! i am hoping that all of you who have requested it will now make plans to attend! LOL! the afternoon and evening classes will feature the exact same project – so don’t think you need to attend both! but maybe having the afternoon option will be more convenient for some of you.

9/27: PhotoFULL and Money $aving $ketches classes at Scrapbook N’ More…

also as requested, i have begun teaching my 2 monthly classes at Scrapbook N’ More in new braunfels. these classes will feature the SAME projects that are offered earlier in the month at Stamp Antonio. so if Scrapbook N’ More is a more convenient location for you, OR if you usually attend classes at Stamp Antonio and the dates in a given month don’t work for you, now you have an option! this works vice versa too!

9/30: Cards to “Dye” for class at Stamp Antonio…

and for those of you who have asked about card classes, i am slated to do one at the end of the month at Stamp Antonio. you’ll make 3 cards, each one demonstrating a different technique using ColorBox’s new Archival Dye inks. i’ll have pics of samples up soon. this class will be a version of the class i taught for Clearsnap at CHA.

SCRAPBOOK STUDIO notes…

the schedule for crops for the remainder of the year is now up at the SCRAPBOOK STUDIO website under the “classes” tab. BUT, please be sure to double check dates as events get closer, since they are being announced so far in advance, they are SUBJECT TO CHANGE. we have added a new crop, the “kit r’ dun” crop! this crop is designed specifically to give you time to assemble Scrapbook Studio kits that you have purchased! we don’t want you letting kits pile up, we want you to put them together, get photos on them and get them in your albums. with that in mind, this crop is ABSOLUTELY FREE! the only requirement is that you work on SCRAPBOOK STUDIO kits during the crop!

FUTURE CLASSES…

a few things that are in the works are kids classes, christmas, disney and school themed altered book classes. whens and wheres will be announced as the details are finalized.
