monday classes…

this monday, july 12th, i’ll have a TRI-fecta of classes! due to the 4th of july holiday and the CKC convention prep, all 3 of my regular monday classes will be held on the same day.

SKETCH & CROP will be first, from 10:00 to 12:30. in this class i’ll provide you with the sketch and you’ll make a 2 page layout using it. here’s a little peek at the layout…

then MONEY $AVING $KETCHES will be from 2:00 to 4:00. i provide you with TWO sketches for this class, you’ll make 1 – 2 page layout then use the leftover supplies from that layout to create another 2 page layout. this class is ALL about learning how to really STRETCH your scrapbook supplies to get the most bang for you $$$.

here’s a snippet of one of the layouts…

THEN, from 6:30 to 8:30 it is time for PHOTO-FULL. if you have STACKS of photos that you have been putting off scrapping because you have TOO many photos of the event – Christmas, birthdays, easter, weddings, etc. then you NEED to come to this class. in each class, i’ll prepare a layout for you to copy using papers of your choice that will give you LOTS of space for your photos. each 2 page layout will hold at least 15 or MORE photos – and most of the photos will be LARGE – not cropped down to teeny-tiny. you’ll learn to use flips, folds and pullouts to add MORE space for YOUR photos. and this month’s Photo-full class is a BIGGIE, i got 32 photos on my 2 page layout!

here’s a sneak at the layout…

you will need to bring your own papers or plan to purchase some at Scrapbook 911 for the SKETCH & CROP and MONEY $AVING $KETCHES class, but supplies are INCLUDED for the PHOTO-FULL class.

also, at the last month’s sketch and crop, the ladies suggested that we do a pot luck lunch since several of them planned to stay for 2 or all 3 of the classes. so if you are coming to either or both of the morning classes and would like to, please bring a covered dish and plan to eat with us from 12:30 to 2:00. but PLEASE do NOT feel like you have to bring something! you’ll be welcome to eat with us whether or not you brought a dish or not!

i hope to see you at one of these classes, it should be a very fun and productive day; a chance to get a LOT of layouts DONE!

4th of july layouts…

i did 2 sample layouts for SCRAPBOOK 911 for 4th of july that i wanted to share…

this one uses the brand spanking new STARS & STRIPES collection by REMINISCE

that’s charlotte’s kiddos – lulu and tony in the photos! thanks charlotte!

and this layout features the new Starlight collection by Pink Paislee…

sorry the photos aren’t better – i usually like to bring the layouts home and scan them so they look NICE and BRIGHT. but since it was so close to the 4th already, i didn’t want to take them down to do that! if you like either of these layouts, SCRAPBOOK 911 has BOTH collections in stock. {and PSST! they are having a BIG sale on july 3rd, so you can get 30% off all the papers and supplies you need to make them!}

mom & me pj crop…

i just noticed that the mom & me pj crop at SCRAPBOOK 911 was not on their web calendar, i’m not sure if it is on the paper calendar or not.  i apologize for not catching that sooner, but i DID want to let anyone who was interested know that we WILL be having the pj crop so PLEASE sign up if you’d like to come and crop with your child{ren}! it will be on thursday, july 8th from 5 to 9.  snacks are included {but dinner isn’t so please eat before you come or bring something with you!} the crop is priced at just $5 per person. moms must stay, and they can bring as many kids as they can supervise! so your kids can invite friends to crop with them if they like.

the wearing of your PJ’s is optional, but we sure had a lot of fun cropping in our jammies last month, here’s some photos…

there are also 2 other mom & me classes coming up in july:

first up is the “regular” mom & me class on saturday, july 10th from 10:00 to noon. you and your child will work together to make a set of card for various occasions.  they will be SO proud to give these cards because they made them themselves!

then, on  tuesday, july 20th  from 10:30 to 12:30 will be mom & me “our day out”. “our day out” is a special class for summer; by special request from the KIDS! BOTH you and your child will EACH have your OWN project to work on for ONE low price! this month, the kids will be making an altered composition book…

while the moms will be making a summer themed 2 page layout…

please e-mail me if you have any questions about any of these special “kid” classes!

hooray for the red, white and blue…

i’ll be teaching another altered book class at scrapbook 911 on june 26th, this time, the theme is patriotic…

this book is #4 in the series of holiday themed altered books i’ll be teaching. i am introducing a few new techniques in this class, and now that most of you who have been coming have the “basics” down, i’ll try to incorporate a few new ideas in each of my future altered book classes.

don’t worry though if you’ve NEVER taken an altered book class or made one on your own, although this class is 5 hours, the techniques aren’t very difficult and you’ll be able to create a project you’ll be proud to display.

i used papers and cardstock sticker embellies from pink paislee’s new starlight collection, and added some wonderful vintage ephemera images from GECKO GALZ to suppliment items from my vintage stash. i’ve been gathering up red, white and blue items for MONTHS in anticipation for this class.

if you are interested, please sign up quickly, as space is limited, and once the spots are gone – they are GONE! i won’t be able to add any additional spots to this class as i’m out of most of my goodies!

curious about the next book in the series?  think about it, the theme will be hauntingly familiar! i’m busy trying to dig up items that will be spooktacular for the theme, but they aren’t easy to find and are proving to be as elusive as a ghost! LOL!

woof!

i did this sample layout for SCRAPBOOK 911 using the new MAX & WHISKERS and BASICS lines by Basic Grey…

we only have a guinea pig, no dogs or cats – but i really LOVED the colors in this line! i bought most of them – that didn’t have dog or cat designs – because the colors were great. having 2 boys, it’s sometimes hard to find papers with “boy colors”.

i’m also a HUGE fan of the new Basics line. i am a sucker for office supplies, so i had to have it ALL!

new webster’s pages…

SCRAPBOOK 911 got in several of the NEW Webster’s Pages lines and they were SO pretty, i just had to play with them!

i did this sample layout using papers and embellishments from Lullaby Lane and Life’s Portrait lines…

i love cutting little bits out of printed papers and collaging them, and these lines are perfect to do that with. i added some of the cute Bloomer trim in the bottom right of the layout – they look like pretty roses – when they don’t get smashed on a scanner!

i think these papers and embellishments would be beautiful for heritage pages or even sweet pics of your favorite little girl. there are lots of ways to mix and match the double sided papers.

i did use the distress stickles in rock candy on some of the flowers, butterflies and accents, but it doesn’t really show up in the photos.

most of the details don’t show up real well in the layout view either, so here are a few close-ups…

i cut out this motif from a printed paper, and also cut out the border and butterfly that accent it. i used the border as kind of a “signpost” to place all the tiny stickers on – i LOVE those!

this close-up shows the rose panel piece complete with “chandelier” that i cut out and slid under the diecut paper. the cut out “completes” a similar design on the die cut paper and makes it look like the roses came under the border.

here, another piece of that rose paper repeats and echoes the pattern again. and the peach roses from the bloomers trim are in the bottom corner – but they were SQUISHED when i scanned the page. I also cut along the scroll design in order to slip the photo mat ends behind it.

and here,  you can see where i cut along the scroll pattern so that i could slip the edge of the diecut paper behind it. i also cut out the roses in the corner and added them on 3D dots.

all the supplies are by Reminisce except for the cardstock and ribbon.

the other new line is called THE WILD…

TW PS 600

this fun line would be great to use for zoo outings with your kiddos. i love the bright aqua, yellow and orange mixed with the earthy browns and greens!

you can see project samples from the design team using both of these lines on the Reminisce blog.

happy easter!

i hope everyone has a wonderful easter tomorrow – well today really!

i had 2 quick little easter cards to share, thanks to jen at scrapbook cottage for the inspiration and idea…

for both cards, i used bazzill glazed cardstock that has raised embossed patterns on it, and smooch spritz. printed papers and embellishments on “for peeps sake” are from reminisce’s Happy Easter line, printed paper on “great dye job” is from making memories and embellishments are from reminisce’s Happy Easter line…

for the first card, “for peeps sake”, i spritzed the cardstock with pink sprinkles, gold glow, and electric blue smooch spritz. i let the cardstock sit for a few minutes until i was sure the spritz had time to be absorbed, then i set a clean white paper towel on top to soak up the spray on the embossed area. then i blotted again to remove more of the ink. then you can just gently “buff” the paper to remove any remaining spritz from the embossed areas.

for the “great dye job card”, i used only 1 spray, the pink sprinkles. then i let dry and blotted as above. once i’d done that, i used the smooch accent inks in sassy pink, grape soda, sundance, carrot, pool and green apple to fill in the designs on the eggs. the ink is opaque enough that it pretty much covers the pink spritz already in those areas.

find lots of easter eggs and bite the ears off of at least one chocolate bunny!

mother’s day gift ideas…

it’s not too early to start thinking about mother’s day gifts!

i have 2 classes coming up on april 3 that i think any mom would appreciate…

first, i’ll be at SCRAPBOOK 911 to teach my “blessings book” from 10:00 to 1:30. this book has lots of little pockets, some of which are “secret”! there is also plenty of room to journal in this book. i designed it with the thought that you could write down the GOOD things that come your way, as well as tuck special little bits of inspiration in it – letters, cards, articles, even fortunes from fortune cookies! just anything that gives your spirit a little lift. then, when you needed that pick-me-up, you could reach for your blessings book! make it for your mom, grandmom, sister, friend or even YOURSELF! this class is almost full, so if you are interested, please contact SCRAPBOOK 911 to sign up.

then, i’m off to STAMP ANTONIO, where we’ll be making a 6 X 6 mini book with canvas covers for mother’s day. featured products are by GECKO GALZ {formerly Harlee-Quinnz} and by CLEARSNAP. you’ll learn a few techniques for painting, inking, stamping and collaging on canvas {to create the cover}, and then i’ll show you how to apply and  blend Smooch Accent Inks on your stamps to create shimmery “watercolor” images. there are spaces for photos and journaling so you can personalize it for your special mom.

if you are interested in this class, please call STAMP ANTONIO to sign up, i’ll have to have a few days to get all the canvas covers made!

thanks!
