2014 valentine altered tray - tray wm

{so sweet} altered tray class…

i’ve got one more valentine’s day class that i will be teaching…

{so sweet} altered tray…

2014 valentine altered tray - tray wm

this project starts off with a tray full of domino shaped wood pieces. the pieces are then covered with photos and LOTS and LOTS of embellishments: metal, ribbon, lace, flowers, buttons, chipboard, bakers twine, stickers, pages from romance novels, goodies from maya roads and trinkets and treasures from my stash.

here’s a collage with closeups of some of the details…

deets collage

while putting this project together, you’ll also learn a few techniques that you can use on your scrapbooking or other papercrafts. we’ll be playing with inks and more from Clearsnap: ColorBox Archival Dye Inks, Chalk and Pigment Inks, Stephanie Barnard Dye Ink Sprays, Sprinkles! Chunky Glitter and stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop.

the date and deets for this class haven’t been finalized yet, but it will probably be scheduled towards the end of january. the class will be held at Scrapbook n’ More in new braunfels.

this project is perfect for a gift or to keep, for friends, family or romances – you’ll be able to customize it to your purpose. i used photos of my son and his girlfriend taken before their homecoming dance.

stayed tuned or better yet – subscribe to my blog for updates on this class. i’ll be posting all the details as soon as i get them!

thanks,

classes this week…

it’s a busy, busy week this week as far as classes go!

carolyn at Stamp Antonio will be teaching my PhotoFull and Money $aving Sketches classes for me tomorrow morning. i dropped off all the sample layouts and directions and went over everything with her tonight, so things should go smoothly tomorrow.

i’ll be doing the layouts and sketches for the Money $aving $ketches class, so the instructions will look like they used to – for those of you who have been taking this class awhile.

this saturday, october 12, i’ll be teaching 2 classes at Scrapbook n’ More in New Braunfels – both are projects have the holidays in mind.

first up, from 10:00 to 12:30 is a “watercolor” poinsettia decor piece

poinsettia collage2 (1024x1024)

in this class you will learn how to use ColorBox Archival Dye Inks as watercolors. but don’t feel that you need any “artistic” or “watercolor” experience to join in. this technique is easy-peasy and will have you FEELING like you are an artist in no time. vintage mercury glass beads and goodies from my stash bling up the plain black frame. cost is $20.

then from 1:30 to 5:30, we’ll be having a “get crafty” workshop

2013 - crafters class - collage (1024x791)

{photos show samples of the types of designs you can make, your project will be uniquely your own!}

we’ll be using ColorBox Crafter’s Inks and stencils by The Crafter’s Workshop to embellish a tote bag. you’ll learn tips and techniques on how to use and combine the stencils to customize your own unique design and create a personalized tote for yourself or for a gift. you can stay for as long as you like and embellish additional items {aprons, child aprons and totes will be offered for $8 or less}. this class is a REAL bargain a $18 – which includes all the supplies and 1 tote. BUT, for an even better value, plan to come and make several items. you will want to arrive at 1:30 to see demos and to learn several techniques. and like with the “watercolor” poinsettia class, you do NOT have to BE an artist to FEEL like one! the stencils and inks are easy to use and you’ll be amazed at the wonderful designs YOU can create! this is a great opportunity to “play” with these products, i have DOZENS of stencils in a BIG variety of styles and themes. you can also put what you learn to work on your scrapbook pages, cardmaking and mix’d media projects. plan to come and have FUN getting INKY!

please call SCRAPBOOK n’ MORE at 830-214-1690 for more info or to sign up!

and then on sunday, october 13, i’ll be teaching my “Steampunk Spells” altered book class at Stamp Antonio. i was able to squeeze in a few more slots, but the class is completely full at this point. we’ll have “snack” time about halfway through class, but i want to really power through this class so you can get as MUCH of your book DONE IN CLASS as possible! i look forward to seeing you sunday! be ready to get BUSY and get MESSY!

thanks!

upcoming classes…

we tried something new last month at Stamp Antonio with my monthly classes and i think it went pretty well…

charlotte has agreed to start planning the money $aving $ketches class and teach the evening class. also, we combined both classes so that you could take either or BOTH classes at either time slot. the posts below this one go into more details.

so, at this month’s class – tuesday, feb 28 – at Scrapbook N’ More in New Braunfels, I’ve decided to try combining both classes as well. you can come and go anytime between 10:30 and 1:30 and take either or both classes.

supply-wise, bring your basic kit for either class and:

20+ photos from the same event for photoFull

2 sets of 8-10 photos (need some that are croppable) of the same event or events where the colors or themes coordinate.

i’ve also got some altered book classes and a mother’s day project in the works at Stamp Antonio, Scrapbook N’ More and The Scrapbooking Factory, so stay tuned for more details on those!

please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

thanks,

classes tomorrow at Stamp Antonio…

after taking august off {HAH!}, i’m ready to pick back up with classes again!

tomorrow, i’ll be at STAMP ANTONIO teaching my 2 monthly classes – Money $aving $ketches and PhotoFULL

if you click on the links under the “class photos, descriptions and supplies” heading in the left sidebar {right under the snow angel blinkie}, you’ll see photos of the projects as well as the supply lists.

i am trying out an afternoon PhotoFULL class this month. it will be the EXACT same project taught in the evening class, just earlier for those of you who prefer to come earlier or can’t make it in the evening.

also keep in mind, that these same classes, Money $aving $ketches and PhotoFULL will be repeated at Scrapbooks N’ More in New Braunfels on 9/27. the exact same projects will be taught, so no need to come to classes at both stores, but it’s an option if you can’t make it to Stamp Antonio tomorrow.

hope to see you soon!

thanks,

class and crop notes

i have updated my class info for september and you can find ALL the dates for the various locations i teach at on the sidebar on the left. i have also added a new bar for SCRAPBOOK STUDIO, and all classes and crops for that location, whether they are taught by me or not, will be posted there.

here are some highlights for september:

9/3: 6th Annual Shirley Young Memorial Crop:

To celebrate the life of the incomparable Shirley Young, Scrapbook Studio is joining forces with The Scrapbooking Factory to host a “Six-Pack & A Crop”. Even if you never met her, please join us to make 6 two-page layouts and crop for 15 hours, all for the low price of $40. This also includes a goody bag, friendship and fun!!! What a deal!!!

What: 6th annual Shirley Young Memorial Crop

When: Saturday, September 3, 2011… from 9AM to midnite

Where: Courtyard by Marriot at the Rim

Price: $40

Sign Up: Jane Pfeiffer at 210 857-8697 or e-mail her at jane@thescrapbookingfactory.com for more details

Space is limited, so please call soon to sign up! For those of you who have attended one of Jane’s retreats, the crop will be held in the same spacious room that she has her retreat at. You get a VERY large table all to yourself and will have PLENTY of room to crop!

9/8: PhotoFULL and Money $aving $ketches classes at Stamp Antonio

i have added an afternoon PhotoFULL class since it has been VERY MUCH requested! i am hoping that all of you who have requested it will now make plans to attend! LOL! the afternoon and evening classes will feature the exact same project – so don’t think you need to attend both! but maybe having the afternoon option will be more convenient for some of you.

9/27: PhotoFULL and Money $aving $ketches classes at Scrapbook N’ More

also as requested, i have begun teaching my 2 monthly classes at Scrapbook N’ More in new braunfels. these classes will feature the SAME projects that are offered earlier in the month at Stamp Antonio. so if Scrapbook N’ More is a more convenient location for you, OR if you usually attend classes at Stamp Antonio and the dates in a given month don’t work for you, now you have an option! this works vice versa too!

9/30: Cards to “Dye” for class at Stamp Antonio

and for those of you who have asked about card classes, i am slated to do one at the end of the month at Stamp Antonio. you’ll make 3 cards, each one demonstrating a different technique using ColorBox’s new Archival Dye inks. i’ll have pics of samples up soon. this class will be a version of the class i taught for Clearsnap at CHA.

SCRAPBOOK STUDIO notes…

the schedule for crops for the remainder of the year is now up at the SCRAPBOOK STUDIO website under the “classes” tab. BUT, please be sure to double check dates as events get closer, since they are being announced so far in advance, they are SUBJECT TO CHANGE. we have added a new crop, the “kit r’ duncrop! this crop is designed specifically to give you time to assemble Scrapbook Studio kits that you have purchased! we don’t want you letting kits pile up, we want you to put them together, get photos on them and get them in your albums. with that in mind, this crop is ABSOLUTELY FREE! the only requirement is that you work on SCRAPBOOK STUDIO kits during the crop!

FUTURE CLASSES…

a few things that are in the works are kids classes, christmas, disney and school themed altered book classes. whens and wheres will be announced as the details are finalized.

thanks to all of you who support and encourage me!

the fee for either of these classes is $15.00 and includes all the papers and cardstocks needed to make the layouts. {embellishments are not included}

WOW!

i had my first “relocated” classes at stamp antonio yesterday and all i can say is WOW!

i didn’t know quite what to expect, or how many students to expect, but i was OVERWHELMED by the attendence! we had 20 in money $aving $ketches, which may be a new record, and 22 in photofull! and those numbers were minus a few regulars who were out of town or out of pocket!

i REALLY appreciate everyone who came and i hope everyone enjoyed the class time. it was great to see everyone and to all get together again.

Stamp Antonio has been VERY welcoming and accomodating; and i TRULY appreciate all Carol, Amy and their wonderful staff has done. Stamp Antonio has been busy ordering MORE papers and cardstock and have lots of new things in stock with still MORE on the way!

i also wanted to commend jen and carolyn {some of you may remember them from scrapbook cottage} for taking it upon themselved to rearrange the crop room between my AM and PM classes. it was a little crowded in the morning, thanks to the HUGE attendence, not that i am complaining! but i guess jen overheard a few customers’ comments about the small workspace so they decided to redo the room in order to give us more room in the evening class! what more could you ask for! actually, we didn’t even have to ASK! LOL!

due to input from these first classes, i’ve decided to pull 6-8 sets of supplies for both of these classes – the papers will be a general theme that is appropriate for the season. i’ll use the same papers to make the sample, so if you get busy and just don’t have time to pull your own supplies, or happen to like the sample, you’ll have a “plan B”! but keep in mind that i will ONLY be pulling SIX to EIGHT sets depending on the quantities of paper that are available. so they will be offered on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis! consider these “emergency” supplies!

Stamp Antonio also has a “prepay” policy for their classes, so it differs a little from 911’s policy which only had you prepay for classes over $15. you can pay with credit card over the phone, or go in and pay. i will be trying to make sure that the sign up sheets for the next month’s class are always ready the day of the current month’s classes so that you can sign up and prepay while you are there.

we have already set the date for next month’s classes; they will be held on may 12th, times are the same; 10:30 to 12:30 for money $aving $ketches and 6:00 to 8:00 for photofull.

i welcome any comments or critiques, it will take awhile to get things up and running!

thanks!

class updates…

it seems like march has just FLOWN by – must have been all the wind! LOL!

i thought i’d have SO much time on my hands with scrapbook 911 closing, but that has NOT been the case. i’ve been very busy trying to get all of my april classes lined up and scheduled, as well as getting ALL of the samples for the classes DONE!

i have the NEW CLASS INFO PAGES up on both my PHOTOFULL and MONEY $AVING $KETCHES classes. if you look to the left, just below my son chris’ snow angel bLiNkie, you’ll see a heading for: “class photos, descriptions and supplies“. if you click on the links there, you will find pages containing info about current classes, including photos, class supply lists, tools needed as well as class notes. this is the BEST place to check for ALL the info you need about my classes. i am hoping to be able to create a page for each class that i teach.

all of my class info has been updated and is current, but there are a few more classes that will be added for april in the next week or so.

i am hoping that there will be a GREAT turnout at STAMP ANTONIO for my april PhotoFULL and Money $aving $ketches classes, as Amy and Carol were nice enough to provide a “home” for these classes. since they don’t have a large selection of papers and cardstocks yet – they are in the process of GROWING that section of their store :) – you will need to bring your own supplies to these classes – which is why they are priced at only $8! you can find out exactly what you need to bring by clicking on my “class pages”. i did find the printed papers i used on all the april class layouts at Stamp Antonio though – so if you like what i used, you can find those there!

both classes will be held on thrusday, april 7 – Money $aving $ketches will be held from 10:30 to 12:30…

and PhotoFULL will run from 6:00 to 8:00…

i’ll also be teaching 2 other classes at STAMP ANTONIO this month…

if you like jewelry and would like to learn how to make your own unique pieces using SMOOCH ACCENT INKS and stamps, then plan to attend one or both of these classes…

dangle gal or guy“…

and “charmed i’m SURE” bracelet class…

both classes are being taught together with work time of 1:00 to 4:00 on saturday, april 9. you can make one or both of these projects during that time. a variety of stamps and LOTS of SMOOCH colors will be available to choose from so you can customize your design as you like.

and last but not least, i am working on the next book in my aLteReD book series… “join the circus“. this book will feature the new LE CIRQUE collection by GRAPHIC 45,  stamps from HAMPTON ART and ephemera from GECKO GALZ! i’ll post photos of the sample just as SOON as it’s ready – i hope to have it done by next week so stay tuned.

STAMP ANTONIO is accepting sign ups for all of these classes now, so please call them them at 210-764-7900  to sign up or for more information.

thanks!
