new class! “french country” recipe binder

hello!

i have a new class to introduce! “french country” recipe binder…

2013-05 cookbook binder - collage

in this class we will be deconstructing {a nice way of saying TEARING UP} a vintage book and transforming it into a recipe binder. and for those of you have taken my altered book classes before – this is NOTHING like my altered book classes! this is something totally NEW!

so if you have a big stash of clipped recipes, or have been wanting to document some of your family’s favorite recipes, this class is for you! the binder can hold a TON of recipes, and you’ll have space to make comments or notes about the recipes too. there are 7 sections in the binder: appetizers, soups & salads, main dishes, side dishes, breads, desserts and beverages.

the “recipes” title piece on the cover, and the divider tabs were all designed and custom made for this project. they are made from a special, printable shrink film made by GRAFIX and have the feel of a matte clay when finished.

we’ll also be using some products from CLEARSNAP to embellish the binder. ColorBox Chalk Inks tint the shrink plastic pieces, the Jumbo Rollagraph and Jumbo Design Wheel, Watermark Ink and Top Boss Clear Embossing Powder will add a subtle pattern and dimension to the title pages that were also designed specially for this project. and Smooch Illuminate, that will add some glimmer and shine to the cover.

the class will be held at SCRAPBOOK N’ MORE in New Braunfels on saturday, june 8 from 1:30 to 5:00, cost is $35. space for this class is limited, so please sign up early if you are interested. you can sign up or get more information by calling Scrapbook n’ More at (830) 214-1690.

thanks!

projects to share!

hello!

i know i don’t always post a lot of projects on my website, but that doesn’t mean i’m not busy MAKING THINGS! LOL!

right now i have a few projects scattered around the web and i’d like to share them with you…

first, a pendant that i created for GRAFIX was selected as the project of the day – 4/3/2013 – by Crafts n’ Things Magazine. they sent out links to the project in their april newsletter as well as listed the project on their facebook page.

you can view the BUTTERFLY PENDANT here: CRAFTS N’ THINGS FACEBOOK PAGE {https://www.facebook.com/craftsnthingsmag} just scroll down to 4/3′s posts and you’ll see a BIG pic of a butterfly pendant! i’d appreciate it if you’d give it a “like” or leave a comment!

you can also see it here: CRAFTS N’ THINGS NEWSLETTER {http://blog.craftsnthings.com/?p=5202}

there is also a YouTube Video that shows how to make the pendant step-by-step on the Grafix YouTube Channel: BUTTERFLY PENDANT {http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Chs7sjS2ckI}

Grafix also included two projects i designed for them on a header on their website: GRAFIX IDEA HEADER {http://www.grafixarts.com/Ideas/}, the mosaic pendant at the lower left and ther CREATE decor piece that runs across the header. i made a video showing how to make the CREATE piece too; it’ll be out soon!

i also have a little notebook project that is included in Grafix’s Project Gallery: COLORED SHRINK FILM ALTERED NOTEBOOK {http://www.grafixarts.com/images/company_assets/512F1C7F-0D64-4A5E-9D91-785DC064755F/ColoredShrinkFilmNotebook_9868.PDF}

i also have a YouTube Channel that includes all the videos i’ve made for the ClearSnap Blog: TAMI SANDERS YOUTUBE {http://www.youtube.com/my_videos?o=U}

i also share 8 projects a month on the CLEARSNAP BLOG, here is one i shared the other day…

i also added a post about how to turn a jeans pocket into a cute change putse! you can see that here: POCKET CHANGE {http://www.clearsnap.blogspot.com/2013/04/pocket-change.html}

a card i made using Stephanie Barnard Sprays! and stamps is the featured project on the CLEARSNAP WEBSITE {http://www.clearsnap.com}: FLOWER BRIGHT {http://www.clearsnap.com/project-view.cfm?id=71}

and lastly, the new 2013 CLEARSNAP CATALOG {http://www.clearsnap.com/catalog.cfm} is out and they have REALLY outdone themselves artistically! the catalog is GORGEOUS and is filled with wonderful projects from some very talented designers. i am very excited to have my work shown along with theirs:

TREND-mendous mini album class…

i just finished a mini album using Crate Paper’s new On Trend line

this pretty collection seemed perfect to use with spring just around the corner! i can’t believe that we are almost done with january! this year is flying by.

we are enjoying spring-like weather here in san antonio, but the rodeo always brings cold, rainy and nasty weather. and the rodeo starts in just a few weeks, so i am enjoying the sun while i can.

this album could be used for lots of different photos. “the best day” shows through in the window of the album, but add an “s” and you could change that to “the best days”! OR you could turn the tag around and put a photo or your own title there.

this album features unique pages and lots of little special touches, here’s a peek…

2013-01-28 001 (1024x576)

i’ll be teaching this class at Scrapbook n’ More in new braunfels; stay tuned for date, time and cost. i’ll be finalizing the details tomorrow. if you are interested in this class, please plan to sign up EARLY as i only have 10 of these albums.

if you had wanted to take the amoure decor class that i taught last week but didn’t get to make it, i had 2 kits left and they are for sale at Scrapbook n’ More. susan also let me leave my scrapbook layout kits at her store on consignment. so if you missed the garage sale, you still have a chance to buy some CHEAP $5 kits!!!

and while we are on the subject of classes, i WILL be teaching an altered book class using the NEW! Graphic 45 Secret Garden line. the class will be held at Stamp Antonio. i’ll start designing the book as soon as the papers arrive. i’ve already started planning as i want to include LOTS of new techniques in the book.

carol at Stamp Antonio suggested that i might do a cookbook album using the other NEW! Graphic 45 line – French Country. it would make a pretty cookbook… any interest?

that’s it for now!

retreat anyone?

i’ve had some great feedback on the new class as well as the proposed retreat; thanks to everyone who took the time to reply!

i’ve also had a chance to gather some more info about retreat spaces and pricing. i’ve found 2 retreat locations that are not too-too far away {click on the links for more photos and info}…

Texas Scrapbook Cabin in Sequin…

and Lone Star Retreat Center in Georgetown…

pricing would be about the same for either location, but meals would be provided for us at the Lone Star Retreat Center, while i’d have to cook for you at the Texas Scrapbook Cabin.

here’s what i’m thinking, and this is just a VERY rough idea… i would like for there to be cropping friday night, then 2 classes on saturday; morning and early afternoon, then cropping saturday night and more cropping until you leave on sunday. there are early arrivals and late departure options to explore, but both places offer roughly the same time frame – friday evening until sunday early afternoon.

the retreat would be all inclusive: 2 nights stay, meals, 2 classes and cropping, plus some bonus goodies. the cost would be around $275-$325, and that is just a rough estimate as well. i think i can get the best price if i have a group of 10 -12.

now that i’ve got the deets about the locations… i’d like to post some polls to get info from YOU!

if you have friends you think might be interested in attending a retreat, please forward them THIS LINK to this post so they can vote as well.

thanks!

first classes of 2013!

hello…

i’d like to give you some info on some upcoming classes for the new year…

a new monthly class has been added to my calendar; we’ll give it a try and see how it goes!

it’s called crop’n with tami and will be held on the 3rd or 4th Thursday of the month at Stamp Antonio. the first class is scheduled for thursday, january 24 from 10:30 to 1:30.

i’ve been asked about doing a class where i help you work on your own layouts, along the lines of an assisted crop, giving you layout and embellishment ideas. enough of you have asked enough times that i’ve decided to try out the idea for a new class for 2013.

i will bring my sketches for past photo-full and money $aving classes, as well as other sketch books and layout ideas for you to use. i will also bring supplies that will be free for use that may vary each month, like stamps and inks, spritzes, alphabets, etc.

although the class is “officially” 3 hours, you can remain and crop until Stamp Antonio closes at 6:00 as long as there is no other class scheduled on that particular day. the cost of the crop is $12. the longevity of this class will depend on attendance.

if you are interested in signing up, please call Stamp Antonio at 210-764-7900.

i have also scheduled a valentine’s day décor project – amoure décor – at Scrapbook N’ More on sunday, january 20 from 2:00 to 4:00. the project features Reminisce’s new line My Sweet Valentine

amoure decor collage

the project also features inks and more from Clearsnap and trinkets from my vintage and not so vintage stash! you can also check out the sample at Scrapbook N’ More. cost for this class is $25.

please call Scrapbook N’ More at 830-214-1690 to sign up or for more info; space for this class is very limited; so please call early!

i am poking around for “inspiration” for the next altered book class – i had my heart set on Valentine’s, but that may not pan out. i’m awaiting the sneak peek of graphic 45’s Secret Garden line; i haven’t done a spring/garden book yet!

i am also looking into hosting a fall retreat: classes by day, cropping by night with lodging and food included.

any input about these or future classes or the fall retreat, would be GREATLY appreciated! i am especially interested in hearing whether or not YOU would be interested in the retreat!

thanks for your interest!
