hi!
some of you have been asking what i am up to…
i’ve been busy with projects for the Clearsnap catalog and blog, the TCW design team, projects using a new product from Grafix, my monthly classes, gifts for friends and a new “secret” venture i can’t talk about yet — and THIS…
my hubbie and i recently went to port aransas for our anniversary. we had a great time – despite the PILES of seaweed on the beach with more and more coming in with the tide! while battling the seaweed, we started picking up a few shells and some pretty broken bits. i thought the shells would be great to use for a summer beach class, so we picked up a LOT. i hadn’t seen any new beach paper lines, but knew just what i wanted – something with white, aqua and tan – and Susan at Scrapbook n’ More had just ordered JUST the thing i had in mind – Prima’s Seashore line.
the frame base is nice and heavy and we’ll be embellishing it with papers, rope, glitter/glass bead gel and pretty shells…
the book is a D-Constructed altered book – we’ll be tearing up a book and putting it back together in a different way! the hard part of the DIS-assembly will already be done for you so you can concentrate on the fun part! the book contains 8 actual pages – so you’ll have 16 pages {front and back} to add your photos and journaling. and just like with my altered books, there are a few flaps and pockets to create. this project is a little easier than my other altered book classes, so if you were wanting to try one, this one would be great to start with! but don’t worry if you are a “regular” in my altered book classes, i think you will still enjoy this one and find new challenges and techniques.
the book is done in neutrals with pops of aqua, think sand, sea and sky! added textures from rope, burlap, shimmery “smooched” tags and hand dyed vintage rayon ribbons. lots of fun small embellies to add just the right touch. the book is not over embellished though – to let your great beach photos SHINE! this would be great for black and white or sepia photos too. the cover is embellished with shells, chipboard letters and some shimmer from glitter/glass bead gel…
i’ll have more info for you tomorrow – i’m dropping the samples off at Scrapbook n’ More and setting the deets tomorrow afternoon.
if you are interested in these classes, drop me an e-mail or please plan to sign up fast. i am not sure how soon we need to order supplies – Prima has a “while supplies last” notation. so we may not be able to add spots if the classes fill.
and as for other upcoming classes, it sounds like there is enough interest to do both a halloween and a christmas altered book this year – thanks for all the input. so i am awaiting the arrival of G45’s AN EERIE TALE in order to get started on the halloween book! as soon as i can set a date for it, i’ll let you know!
thanks!
