upgrading is FUN!

i’ll be repeating this to myself … “upgrading is FUN!”… while I try to figure out how exactly to use the new toys I bought today! LOL!

i am a very low-tech gal; while i like what technology can do for me, i don’t like having to figure out how to use new things. but every now and then, it is time to move up on the tech scale. so i’ll be spending the next few weeks watching videos and reading manuals to figure out how to use…

purchase #1…

a new laptop, an ideapad yoga 13 ultrabook. i don’t get “geeked” about too many things, but the fact that i can fold the screen in multiple positions and that it has a touchscreen, had me excited over how much easier photo editing would be. and it is! it’s so nice to move the keyboard out of the way, and work on just the screen. and the touchscreen makes cropping so quick and easy. and i can scroll though my photos quickly too. i am hoping THAT excitement will carry me through the drudgery of figuring out how to use everything AND get used to the new windows 8 operating system.

and, since i am a glutton for punishment, i made purchase #2…

a new camera, a canon rebel t4i,  so i will ALSO be trying to figure out how to use it! i decided it was time to put on a BIG GIRL camera bag and step up from my point and shoot.

and since i depend on BOTH items #1 and #2 on an almost daily basis to conduct my biz-ness, i better learn FAST!

so here’s hoping that this low-tech gal can add some hi-tech info to her overloaded brain QUICK!

vintage calendar box class…

i have a new class to announce – i’ve finished the project that i posted a “teaser” about the other day…

i found some fabulously shabby little white boxes during my trip to canton, i thought they would be perfect for some type of calendar project, but didn’t have anything definite in mind.

BUT, graphic 45 MUST have read my mind as they released their “place in time” collection shortly afterward! perfect timing!

here’s a look at the finished “vintage calendar box”…

the box includes 12 sets of the following, one set for each month:

  • tag with monthly calendar
  • “day-by-day” booklet for jotting down the days events
  • birthday calendar – to list friends and family b-days
  • birthday gift list – to keep track of gift ideas and purchases
  • “offers” envelope for coupons and gift cards

in addition to papers and embellies from Graphic 45’s “place in time” line, there are lots of items from my vintage stash.  there are also custom made items i designed just for this project using vintage ephemera from my collection.

and although the box is labeled as 2013, you can use it year after year. the dates on the calendar tags are in pencil, so they can be refreshed each year. and i’ll provide the class a master copy of the vintage office papers for the “day-by-day” booklet.

this would make a fabulously thoughtful gift for the holidays – if you can part with it! and since the class is early in december, you’ll have plenty of time to finish it and get it wrapped or shipped of if you are gifting it.

the class will be held at Stamp Antonio on sunday, december 2 from 12:00 to 4:00; cost is $55.

if you are interested in this class, please call Stamp Antonio at 210-764-7900. space for this class is VERY limited as i only have 12 boxes. there may be a possibility of getting more made, but that is NOT definite.

this class, along with the two classes i am teaching at Scrapbook N’ More in new braunfels will be the last 3 specialty classes i’ll be teaching til next year.

the two classes at Scrapbook N’ More will both be held on saturday, december 1…

countdown 2 christmas: a countdown calendar featuring papers by Bo Bunny, inks and more from Clearsnap, ephemera from Gecko Galz, vintage yardsticks and lots of goodies from my vintage stash…

and fabulous finds pendant and necklace class: you’ll create a one-of-a kind fashion piece that will be uniquely your own to gift or keep. you’ll have access to tons of jewelry bits vintage and new from “broken-but-beautiful” pieces, watch parts, charms and more…

if you are interested in either of these classes, please contact Scrapbook N’ More at {830} 214-1690 for more info or to sign up.

sunday’s altered book class..

we had a great time at the “sweet dreams of christmas” altered book class at Stamp Antonio this past sunday.

i have to say this was the BEST altered book class EVER! there were a lot of ladies who had attended one of these classes before, but quite a few “newbies”. but you would have never known that the “newbies” were new! they were awesome! they all kept up with the class and did EXCELLENT work! and the “repeaters” just keep getting better and better. maybe it’s time for me to come up with some more COMPLICATED tricks! LOL!

here’s some photos i took during the class…

{my gallery has a auto format, so no hard feelings please if you are in a small photo!}

thanks to all who came, and MANY thanks for all the interest in these altered book classes.

amy and carol at Stamp Antonio are terrific and work hard to help make these classes a success. many thanks to them and the Stamp Antonio staff!

as for the next class in the series, we’ll have to wait and see… i’ve been collecting things for a Valentine’s book here and there, but i’ll have to wait for the CHA releases to see if any inspire a new book!

my last class!

of the year! LOL!

i am working on a project for my last class of the year. i think it would make a perfect gift for that “hard to shop for” person on your holiday list. you know, the one that is hard to please, exchanges all their gifts, has everything, or doesn’t need anything! well — they will love this – HOPEFULLY! or you could always keep it for yourself – i won’t tell ;)

i’ll give you a few hints…

Place in Time Set *4500591-4500616

i should have the sample ready by this sunday, the 11th, so if you will be at Stamp Antonio this sunday or after, you can get a look. of course i’ll be posting pics of the finished project here as well.

please sign up QUICK once the class is announced if you are interested. i only have 12 boxes, so once the class is full, i won’t be able to add any more spots.

sweet dreams of christmas altered book class update

i was able to add 4 spots to my “sweet dreams of christmas” altered book class; so some of you on the waitlist should have received a call from Stamp Antonio today with the good news! i realized that we would not need a “work table” in the back for this class like we have for past classes, so ROOM FOR A FEW MORE!!!

if you didn’t get a call, hang on! you never know if someone will need to cancel! it’s always a good idea to get on the waitlist.

i appreciate all the interest in this altered book series!

many thanks,
