another productive retreat!

hi!

i spent another productive weekend at jane’s scrap2u retreat!

i finished 14 two-pagers and 3-one pagers; not too bad for 3 days of cropping. of course a few if those were duplicates as i keep a book for each of my 2 kids.

here’s some of the layouts…

and here’s my personal favorite — since i got to do a “girly” layout. this layout has it all! banners, washi tape, brackets, flowers and rhinestones! you name it, i put it on there!

the chipboard bracket was inked using a blend of 2 Izink Inks from Clearsnap, then distressing it with a file. Izinks are a hybrid of pigment ink and acrylic paint. they are GORGEOUS! check ’em out.

i even managed to get my layouts for my july PhotoFULL and M$$ classes done! ahead yay! here are snippets of the M$$ class layouts…

20140630-034800-13680020.jpg

and where did i hide 15+ photos on this layout? come try the photoFULL class and find out! and heads up to regulars, bring lots of photos! this layout is ALL about them, not much printed paper or embellies – just lots and lots of photos!

jane offers her retreats monthly; only $45 and an extra $10 if you want to start at 10am instead of 6pm on fridays. you get a nice, big table too. lots of friendly gals to crop with as well.

i’m hoping to be at the september retreat, but there are retreats scheduled for july and august. unfortunately i have classes scheduled to teach those weekends :(

Clearsnap & Something Tattered Cross Promotion

hi!

welcome to the Clearsnap & Something Tattered Cross-Promotion!

from june 20 to the 22nd, we will showcase projects created by our design teams. we are so glad you took the time to visit as our designers have some beautiful and inspiring projects to share with you today. we challenged them to create Wedding Themed Projects without using patterned paper. the designs you see were created exclusively with Clearsnap inks and Something Tattered stamps!

come take a look!

i am sharing a thank you card made using 2 stamps from Something Tattered and Izink Inks from Clearsnap

wedding thank you card - clearsnap, something tattered, izink ink, stamped backgrounds, stamped card, wedding projects, wedding cards, stamped wedding - tami sanders wm

weddings to me are a mix of old and new, vintage and modern, age old traditions combined with fresh ideas.

Something Tattered has gorgeous, romantic, vintage inspired stamps that are perfect for weddings. i chose “traditional” colors for this card and mixed them with crisp white matting and simple shaped flowers. vintage buttons tied with string finish off the design.

i used Izink Inks to create the background papers for this card and accent flowers. Izink Inks are hybrid inks – a mix of acrylic paint and pigment ink. they have a gorgeous shimmer, dry fast and work well on many different surfaces and in numerous applications.

i wanted a soft, multi-tone background so i selected 3 Izink Inks: Ambre, Gold and Silver. i used the ink bottle dropper to add a small pool of ink of each of the 3 colors, side by side on a craft sheet {or wax paper}. i placed the Ambre in between the Silver and Gold. i then used the ColorBox Art Wheel & Handle to gently blend the edges of the inks and rolled the ink onto the wheel. the ink was then rolled onto plain, white cardstock, reinking as needed until the paper was fully inked. once dry, the paper was used to create the card base and accent piece.

the stamped damask vertical piece was done using the Parlor Vintage Wallpaper Background Stamp inked with Top Boss Watermark Pearl Twinkle Ink and embossed with ColorBox White Embossing Powder. once the embossing had cooled, the designs were lightly distressed using a bit of Ambre Izink Ink applied using ColorBox Stylus & Tips. the sentiment was done in the same way using the Thank You Filigree Stamp Set.

i love the pretty shimmer you get when you use Watermark Pearl Twinkle Ink, and the finished embossing reminded me of icing…

to create the flowers, i first stamped and embossed the Parlor Vintage Wallpaper Background design on white cardstock using Top Boss Watermark Pearl Twinkle Ink and ColorBox Clear Embossing Powder. then i applied the Izink Inks using the same technique as for the background paper. the embossed areas were lightly buffed before the inks had dried to “stain” and distress them a bit…

new project up on The Crafter’s Workshop Blog

hi!

i just added a new project over on The Crafter’s Workshop Blog

museum layout

i used TCW stencils and Izink from Clearsnap to create a background for a photo i took of my kiddos at a museum during spring break.

do you have special photos that you just can’t find paper to scrapbook them with? then consider making your OWN paper! it’s easier than you may think.

i put together a short video showing how i made this page step-by-step, you can see it in my post: MUSEUM SCRAPBOOK PAGE

the new TCW design team is made up of some very talented artists, please visit The Crafter’s Workshop Blog often for some great ideas!

“by the sea” frame and book class info

i dropped off the samples of these two projects at Scrapbook n’ More today…

by the sea projects - blog - wm

i also finalized the details for the class…

DATE: saturday, july 12

TIME: frame – 12:00 to 1:30 and book – 1:30 to 5:00

COST: frame – $20 and book – $45

receive a $5 discount if you take both classes – only $60

i’ve also added all the class info and supply lists also {see right sidebar}.

please drop by Scrapbook n’ More if you would like to see these samples in person – and plan to SHOP while you are there! susan has been getting BOXES and BOXES of new stuff in! lots of great, fun summer papers, tons of stamping supplies and more! she has also extended her cardstock selection. she is literally having trouble trying to put all the NEW! stuff out – so help her out by buying some of it!

Scrapbook n’ More is easy to get to from San Antonio, just take IH35 north, exit at 189, take the turn around and stay in the left hand lane. the road actually runs into the shopping center {the one with the new alamo drafthouse} head towards the right, the store sign is hidden until you go up aways.

thanks to all of you who took the time to respond about these 2 classes, it really helped me gauge the interest level and be able to order supplies accordingly! please call Scrapbook n’ More at 830-214-1690 for more info or to sign up.

i have also set the date for the HALLOWEEN ALTERED BOOK CLASSplease save the datesaturday, august 2 from 12:00 to 5:00. i’ll be using G45’s EERIE TALES line, based on grimm’s fairy tales. papers should be in soon, and i’m expecting to have the sample done by the end of june at the latest.

thanks!

“by the sea” d-constructed altered book & frame”

hi!

some of you have been asking what i am up to…

i’ve been busy with projects for the Clearsnap catalog and blog, the TCW design team, projects using a new product from Grafix, my monthly classes, gifts for friends and a new “secret” venture i can’t talk about yet — and THIS…

by the sea projects - blog - wm

my hubbie and i recently went to port aransas for our anniversary. we had a great time – despite the PILES of seaweed on the beach with more and more coming in with the tide! while battling the seaweed, we started picking up a few shells and some pretty broken bits. i thought the shells would be great to use for a summer beach class, so we picked up a LOT. i hadn’t seen any new beach paper lines, but knew just what i wanted – something with white, aqua and tan – and Susan at Scrapbook n’ More had just ordered JUST the thing i had in mind – Prima’s Seashore line.

the frame base is nice and heavy and we’ll be embellishing it with papers, rope, glitter/glass bead gel and pretty shells…

by the sea frame - blog - we

the book is a D-Constructed altered book – we’ll be tearing up a book and putting it back together in a different way! the hard part of the DIS-assembly will already be done for you so you can concentrate on the fun part! the book contains 8 actual pages – so you’ll have 16 pages {front and back} to add your photos and journaling. and just like with my altered books, there are a few flaps and pockets to create. this project is a little easier than my other altered book classes, so if you were wanting to try one, this one would be great to start with! but don’t worry if you are a “regular” in my altered book classes, i think you will still enjoy this one and find new challenges and techniques.

the book is done in neutrals with pops of aqua, think sand, sea and sky! added textures from rope, burlap, shimmery “smooched” tags and hand dyed vintage rayon ribbons.  lots of fun small embellies to add just the right touch. the book is not over embellished though – to let your great beach photos SHINE! this would be great for black and white or sepia photos too. the cover is embellished with shells, chipboard letters and some shimmer from glitter/glass bead gel…

by the sea book - blog wm use me

i’ll have more info for you tomorrow – i’m dropping the samples off at Scrapbook n’ More and setting the deets tomorrow afternoon.

if you are interested in these classes, drop me an e-mail or please plan to sign up fast. i am not sure how soon we need to order supplies – Prima has a “while supplies last” notation. so we may not be able to add spots if the classes fill.

and as for other upcoming classes, it sounds like there is enough interest to do both a halloween and a christmas altered book this year – thanks for all the input. so i am awaiting the arrival of G45’s AN EERIE TALE in order to get started on the halloween book! as soon as i can set a date for it, i’ll let you know!

thanks!

clearsnap & cardmaker blog hop

hello! welcome to the Clearsnap and CardMaker Blog Hop!

i hope you have enjoyed all the fab projects you have seen so far!

i have a card to share using Izink Ink made by Aladine and distributed by Clearsnap…

welcome card - clearsnap,cardmaker,blog hop,stamped card,stamping technique,home card,rollagraph,izink - tami sanders - wm

Izink Inks are a hybrid of pigment ink and acrylic paint. they work well on a variety of different medias, dry quickly and have a pretty shimmer. they also come in LOTS of gorgeous colors.

Clearsnap will be giving away some Izink Inks, so be SURE to get all the details on the CLEARSNAP BLOG and play along to WIN!

i made all the inked and stamped pieces of the scene using the same 5 step process:

1} add a few drops of Izink in a few different colors from the same color family on a piece of waxed paper {like Bamboo, Avocado and Cactus for the green}

2} dab the colors with the ColorBox® Color Blender to load the sponge with ink, being careful not to overblend

3} press the Color Blender along a piece of white cardstock, making consecutive blocks of color, reloading as needed; set aside to dry or heat set

4} place the Say What? Rollagraph® Jumbo Design Wheel in the Jumbo Handle and load with ColorBox® Frost White Pigment Ink, roll across Izink inked paper ; heat set

5} stamp design using ColorBox® Wicked Black Archival Dye Ink

after all the pieces were inked and stamped, i cut them out. i also decided to make the door and windows of the house from different colors, so they were stamped and cut out, then adhered to the house.

to ” set the scene”, i punched out a 3″ scalloped circle to use as a mask, held it in place on the card front using a bit of blue tape, then inked around it using Mimosa, Citronella and a little Jasmine loaded on a damp Color Blender Sponge.

once that was dry, i used a 2 1/2″ circle punch to create the sky – trimming off the bottom of the circle, and to make the grass – cutting a curvy line across the top part to make a hill. these 2 pieces were arranged in the center of the masked off area of the card.

then all the pieces of the scene were arranged and glued. i stamped some clouds on remnants of the blue inked piece using the Frost White Pigment Ink, and cut them out to use to add some dimension to the sky…

welcome card - clearsnap,cardmaker,blog hop,stamped card,stamping technique,home card,rollagraph,izink - tami sanders - cu wm

to finish off the card, i stamped a border and sentiment at the bottom using Wicked Black Dye Ink.

stamps: Hampton Art: Doodle Bug: Home Sweet Home and Borders

cardstock: Bazzill

adhesive: Beacon Adhesives: 3-in-1 Glue

*******************************************

here is a list of all the stops for the hop; you can see where you are at and where you need to go next! if you jumped in somewhere in the middle, start over at the top of the list so you won’t miss anything!

have fun!
