{school years} altered book class info…

the sample book for the {school years} altered book class is FINISHED and has been dropped off at Scrapbook n’ More in new braunfels. YAY!!!

this book is FULL of fabulous vintage finds: cool 40’s skinny pencils, 60’s plastic apple charms, HUGE 6 X 8 phonics cards from the 30’s, flash cards from the 30’s – 50’s, vintage game pieces and MORE! there are also some custom chipboard pieces featuring some fabulous vintage school related ephemera.

the book will be a wonderful way to display not only your child’s school photo through the years, but also their school work and art pieces. each year has a pocket for placing these treasures – you can scan and shrink to fit more in. there are also places for notes and a mini folder at the end that can hold more special momentos.

a great graduation gift idea for not only the graduate, but maybe mom or grandmom.

if you haven’t taken any of my altered book classes before, this is a good one to start with. once you learn the process, most of the book is repetition. if you are an “altered book veteran”, you’ll enjoy learning some new techniques featured in this book.

here are some pics of the finished book…

school {book} is in session…

i’ve been hard at work designing the {school years} altered book. i thought i’d share a few sneak peeks with you.

the “bones” of the book are finished. there will be mats for pics kinder through 12th grade….

and each photo will have a pocket section behind it to hold momentos. if you have ephemera that fits – great, if not, photocopy, shrink and print!

there will be tabs in between each section that will have phonics cards, flash cards, postcards and more attached…

the front cover design will consist of a vintage pencil {waiting for these to arrive!}, a bracket shaped mini chalkboard, a strip of vintage sentence roll border and a girl or boy cut from the G45 papers and a chipboard piece. front covers will vary for this book. here are a few examples – roughly laid out – cover design isn’t finished!

i will be asking for a “boy” or “girl” selection when you sign up, and i’ll do my best to select designs with your choice in mind. i won’t be able to promise a certain design.

i will have 23 spots available for this class.

remember, i’ll be posting more details as they come. mark your calendar for sign up starting april 1 – NO FOOLING! :)

{school years} altered book class

hello!

i have started work on my {school years} altered book class!

the papers for the book will be from Graphic 45’s ABC PRIMER collection.

i began pulling pieces and parts from my “junque” stash to use for this book; below is a collage pic of what i’ve selected so far…

collage (1024x512)

i have more goodies to add and i don’t know if all of the above items WILL be included, but i’ll do my best to get as much as i can in!

i think the front cover will have a chalkboard on it, but not sure of the size as yet. i’m playing with a few different sizes and styles.

i am hoping to get the sample book done in the next week or so and will be posting pictures when it is finished.

now, some of the details:

i had scheduled this class with Scrapbook N’ More for may 2 a few months back. unfortunately, neither of us realized that was National Scrapbook Day. susan is planning crops for that weekend, so the class needed to be moved. so it has been rescheduled for may 3. the good news is that if you would like to make a nice long weekend of cropping and crafting, you can plan on attending the crops and staying for the class. you may leave your supplies there for the duration if you attend all events.

i have not set a time or cost yet, but will do so soon. there will also be some info coming on payment and cancellation periods for the altered book classes. you can begin signing up for this class on april 1; i should have all the details set by then.

if you are interested in this class, please sign up as soon as possible on or after april 1. going forward, i will not be adding spaces to my altered book classes. it is very difficult, time consuming and usually costly, to try and locate and purchase more of the unique items i use for these books. it also creates extra work and confusion for the store. whatever quantities i have on hand will determine class size.

thanks for the continued interest in this class series…
