altered book kit…

i had a few leftover kits from my patriotic altered book class; i put them out for sale last saturday and as of today there was ONE left. so if anyone is interested, please act fast as i won’t be able to put any more kits together.

the kit does include all the pieces you need to complete the project as well as the book and directions with color photos. the only thing the kit does not include are the stamps we used in class. but you can substitute sticker letters or use stamps you have on hand.

thanks to everyone who attended the class, i hope you all enjoyed it and will REALLY enjoy showing off your work this independence day.

the next altered book class i have planned is one for HALLOWEEN! i’m busy trying to gather up some spooky vintage goodies to fill it with. i do have an e-mailing list for my altered book classes, so if you are interested in them and want to be notified of the what, when and where, please drop me a note and ask to be added to the list.

4th of july layouts…

i did 2 sample layouts for SCRAPBOOK 911 for 4th of july that i wanted to share…

this one uses the brand spanking new STARS & STRIPES collection by REMINISCE

that’s charlotte’s kiddos – lulu and tony in the photos! thanks charlotte!

and this layout features the new Starlight collection by Pink Paislee…

sorry the photos aren’t better – i usually like to bring the layouts home and scan them so they look NICE and BRIGHT. but since it was so close to the 4th already, i didn’t want to take them down to do that! if you like either of these layouts, SCRAPBOOK 911 has BOTH collections in stock. {and PSST! they are having a BIG sale on july 3rd, so you can get 30% off all the papers and supplies you need to make them!}

mom & me pj crop…

i just noticed that the mom & me pj crop at SCRAPBOOK 911 was not on their web calendar, i’m not sure if it is on the paper calendar or not.  i apologize for not catching that sooner, but i DID want to let anyone who was interested know that we WILL be having the pj crop so PLEASE sign up if you’d like to come and crop with your child{ren}! it will be on thursday, july 8th from 5 to 9.  snacks are included {but dinner isn’t so please eat before you come or bring something with you!} the crop is priced at just $5 per person. moms must stay, and they can bring as many kids as they can supervise! so your kids can invite friends to crop with them if they like.

the wearing of your PJ’s is optional, but we sure had a lot of fun cropping in our jammies last month, here’s some photos…

there are also 2 other mom & me classes coming up in july:

first up is the “regular” mom & me class on saturday, july 10th from 10:00 to noon. you and your child will work together to make a set of card for various occasions.  they will be SO proud to give these cards because they made them themselves!

then, on  tuesday, july 20th  from 10:30 to 12:30 will be mom & me “our day out”. “our day out” is a special class for summer; by special request from the KIDS! BOTH you and your child will EACH have your OWN project to work on for ONE low price! this month, the kids will be making an altered composition book…

while the moms will be making a summer themed 2 page layout…

please e-mail me if you have any questions about any of these special “kid” classes!

san marcos CKC…

i found out this week that i WILL be teaching at CKC SAN MARCOS

i’m teaching the same classes at CKC san marcos that i will be teaching at CKC houston. so if you were interested in my classes but couldn’t make it to houston, you’ll get a second chance at them in san marcos.

in my photofull layout class, you’ll make 2 – 2 page layouts that will EACH hold 12 photos – or more! you’ll have to take the class to find out where and how the rest of the photos are “hidden”…

my other class will be a mini album class – “life is good” mini album, we’ll use the UNWRITTEN line by REMINISCE to embellish this mini book i designed using file folders…

sign ups started today, so go to the ckc site for all the info, you can see the class info HERE.

upcoming classes at stamp antonio…

as most of you probably know, stamp antonio will be MOVING at the end of june, you can get all the info on their website if you hadn’t heard: STAMP ANTONIO NEWSLETTER.

i am going to be scheduling 2 jewelry classes towards the end of july or maybe in early august at stamp antonio, so they will be in their NEW location by then! i’m excited to see what the new store will be like; especially since amy and carol want to put their own “STAMP” on it! i’m sure it will be unique, artistic and inspiring!

here’s a sneak peek at the sample projects: the first class is “dangle gal”…

and the other class is “charmed – i’m sure”…

if you are interested in either of these classes, please check back to for dates and times.

i’d like to do more “guest teaching” starting in the fall, so if you would like me to come to your store, or would like to suggest a retreat in need of instructors, i’d love to hear about it {as long as it’s in texas – i’m not ready to go TOO far! LOL!}

“where’s the PARTY?” contest…

my hubbie and i have been watching madmen the series on netflix, the show is good but the real attraction is the eye candy – AKA john hamm for me, and a bevvie of gals for my dh! LOL! we both like “decade” shows too, those that really capture the essence of an era, and madmen does an excellent job of that.

anyway, that got me thinking about some news i received lately. CLEARSNAP sent me a list of recently released magazines that include ads featuring projects of mine.

here’s the list:

RubberStampMadness * Holiday 2009/2010

Crafts n’ Things * Feb 2010

Scrap & Stamp Arts * Apr 2010

Creating Keepsakes Special Issue * Paper: Tips and Techniques

Crafts n’ Things * Jul/Aug 2010

Creating Keepsakes * Jul/Aug 2010

Canadian Scrapbooker * Summer Issue 2010

so if you have an issue on this list and find the Clearsnap ad; squint or get a magnifying glass and you can see my name in TEENY-TINY print! LOL! BUT – that’s not the point of this post, there is ONE recent issue that i haven’t included in the list, and that is where the contest comes in.

take a peek at THIS ad…

this ad can be found in a recently released paper-scrapbook-card making related magazine, and what i want to know is “where’s the PARTY?” you know where NOT to look since the issue the ad is in is NOT included in the list above – which is WHY i gave you the list – my free hints for you!

so, if you want to play along, all you need to do is to discover which magazine this ad IS in, and e-mail me with the name and issue date. DON’T leave the info in a comment – everyone can see the comments and you’d give the answer away! instead, just click on the CONTACT ME tab at the top of my blog and e-mail me with the info.

the contest will run 2 weeks;  now until monday, june 21. then i’ll take all the winning entries – those with the correct magazine name and issue date, and toss them in a hat and pick a winner. the winner will receive a small prize pack of goodies that i’m putting together.

i am bad about stacking up my magazines to read later – and later is always MUCH later than i think it will be! so maybe, this contest will prompt you to dig them out and actually give them a read {including the ads!}

it’s a guy thing…

hi all,

sorry i haven’t been posting as often here; i’ve been busy trying to get my blog on CLEARSNAP up and running. things are getting easier as i’m starting to figure out how best to juggle my time in order to create and post new projects over there.

i’m also gearing up to teach at ckc houston {and hopefully san marcos}, so i have a LOT of kits to make and bag up.

i will be joining a new team in august, and will be working on projects for them that i’ll be able to post here as well, so new stuff coming soon!

in the meantime, from time to time i will be letting you know about my projects on the CLEARSNAP BLOG.  i hope that you will hop over there to check them out, as i am unable to share them here.

THIS  is one of those times; i’ve been posting a series of “manly” projects on the Clearsnap blog. since father’s day is coming up soon, i thought it might be a good idea to do some things that would be suitable for “the boys”. so far, i’ve posted 2 father’s day cards: MAN UP, TOOL TIME and a layout of MY 3 guys: ALL IN THE FAMILY. i have more “masculine” projects planned, so if you need some inspiration for “guy stuff”, please go over and visit!

hooray for the red, white and blue…

i’ll be teaching another altered book class at scrapbook 911 on june 26th, this time, the theme is patriotic…

this book is #4 in the series of holiday themed altered books i’ll be teaching. i am introducing a few new techniques in this class, and now that most of you who have been coming have the “basics” down, i’ll try to incorporate a few new ideas in each of my future altered book classes.

don’t worry though if you’ve NEVER taken an altered book class or made one on your own, although this class is 5 hours, the techniques aren’t very difficult and you’ll be able to create a project you’ll be proud to display.

i used papers and cardstock sticker embellies from pink paislee’s new starlight collection, and added some wonderful vintage ephemera images from GECKO GALZ to suppliment items from my vintage stash. i’ve been gathering up red, white and blue items for MONTHS in anticipation for this class.

if you are interested, please sign up quickly, as space is limited, and once the spots are gone – they are GONE! i won’t be able to add any additional spots to this class as i’m out of most of my goodies!

curious about the next book in the series?  think about it, the theme will be hauntingly familiar! i’m busy trying to dig up items that will be spooktacular for the theme, but they aren’t easy to find and are proving to be as elusive as a ghost! LOL!
