tami sanders * paper crafter

tami sanders is a paper crafter that teaches locally and does design work for a few companies…

hello all!

just a quick reminder about my BOHO CHIC mini album class this saturday, august 24 at Stamp Antonio.

i know it’s the weekend before school starts, but treat yourself with a few hours away from all the chaos!

the album has lots of vintage touches and is done using the NEW! Bohemian Bazaar paper line from Graphic 45. the papers are bright and bold and are perfect way to display some of your favorite summer photos, or maybe photos of your favorite gals…

krafting with kids!

my neice talia is visiting us this week and she is a krafty kid who likes to scrapbook and play with paper, glue and bLiNg!

i had made a canvas collage for my sister-in-law, talia’s mom, for mother’s day and talia wanted to make something like it to decorate her locker at school….

family collage (470x800)

{this project was posted on the Clearsnap Blog on 5/8/2013: Home & Family Canvas Collage – you can find the complete supplies and general project directions there.}

talia started with a base coat of some light colors of ColorBox Pigment Ink as a backdrop for her canvas. using the ColorBox Stylus & Tips made inking the canvas easier and a lot less messy! the inks were then given a few swipes and smudges with a clean paper towel to blend the colors together at the edges.

talia then chose some templates from The Crafter’s Workshop to use to add MORE depth to her background. ColorBox Stylus & Tips were again used to apply the ink.

after the inks dried, talia then diecut some glitter paper using dies from Spellbinders and layered them with some 3D stickers.

Zip Dry from Beacon is a VERY forgiving glue as any excess “ooze” can be cleaned up quickly and easily so it’s a good choice for kids over age 8 or so {and those of us over 8 who are messy crafters!} and since talia is a little older, i let her use Beacon’s 3-in-1 glue as well as it is GREAT for trims, flowers and embellies. it is a quick grab glue, so it works fast!

flowers, rhinestones, glitter chipboard letters and some trims were added and a ribbon for hanging was the finishing touch.

here are some pics of the process and the finished project…

talia 1 (683x1024)  talia 2 (683x1024)  talia 4 (683x1024)  talia 7 (1024x683)  talia 8 (1024x683)talia 5 (1024x683)  talia 6 (1024x683)

there’s still time to crank out a few craft items with your kiddos before summer is O-FFICIALLY OVER :(

and decor for their lockers or embellishing bland and boring folders and notebooks for back to school are great project ideas!

Clearsnap & The {Stamps} Of Life Blog Hop!!!

Welcome to the Clearsnap & The {Stamps} of Life Blog Hop!

All day today we’re stamping and inking, creating and sharing. Be sure to visit everyone on the hop and leave a comment to be entered to win a fabulous prize of Stephanie Barnard’s line of ColorBox inkpads, Stephanie Barnard Sprays!, and Stephanie’s new SCREENS!

***You can find the list of blogs on the hop below my project***

For the hop, I’m sharing a SUNSHINE-Y card with you. It is HOT, HOT, HOT here in sunny Texas. These hot summer days have me dreaming of a trip to the beach for a little cool H20 relief. But since the family can’t fit in a beach trip just yet, I thought I’d make a card featuring blue skies and waves, with white fluffy clouds and a big bright sun!

I used ColorBox® Premium Dye Inks and Sprays! by Stephanie Barnard along with some stamps and dies from The {Stamps} Of Life on glossy paper to create this fun little card…

I love how Stephanie gives you lots of parts and pieces that you can stamp and arrange how you like! It makes it fun to mix and match designs and make something uniquely your own.

I wanted to use black ink to really POP the bright colors, but I wanted a “softer” look, so I used Charcoal ColorBox® Chalk Ink. Chalk Inks work great on glossy cardstock, just heat set to speed up dry time to reduce the risk of smearing.

The sun was stamped on glossy paper that had been spritzed with Banana ColorBox® Premium Dye Ink Spray!, and the center was punched from paper inked using Tangerine ColorBox® Premium Dye Ink

The clouds were actually stamped on the BACK of some leftover glossy paper that had been sprayed with the Blueberry ColorBox® Premium Dye Ink Sprays! Little dotted areas had soaked through to the backside of the paper and I thought they would make pretty clouds.

The waves were made by stamping them on glossy papers that had been sprayed with Blueberry and Sky ColorBox® Premium Dye Ink Sprays!.The waves were cut out and then the colors alternated with the waves offset…

Using the Color Catcher® helps keep all the inky goodness contained! And don’t forget to use your ColorBox® Cleaning Pad to spiffy up your stamps!

ColorBox Cleaning Pad

The ColorBox® Cleaning Pad is a quick and easy way to clean off your stamps {even for those of us who don’t like to clean our stamps– -wink…wink!}

card using new! Surfacez Inks!

a card i made using the new! Surfacez ink is the featured project at Clearsnap.com

Black Surfacez ink was used to stamp the design and then markers were used to fill it in. the markers did not smudge or smear the Surfacez Ink at all; the lines stayed nice and crisp.

you can find the complete supply list and directions for this card HERE.

painting with friends… (and wine)

just got home with an evening out with friends: kathy, terrie, laura, tinka, lori, charlotte and shannon.

it was girls nite out at artisan’s alley. dinner at Bahia Azul was DElicious!!! shrimp empanadas and shrimp tacos – YUM!

then off to Painting with a Twist…

terrie and kathy were the hostesses for this outing, so they had picked a painting for us to work on. and while we painted there was wine and snacks.

i enjoyed the painting class, although painting is not something i’ve done much of. but it was a chance to play with paint and get messy – – – while sipping moscato!

the instructor showed us what to do step, by step, but that didn’t mean i could duplicate his work step by step! lol!

but everyone enjoyed the experience, and being creative.

here’s my finished effort, mine differed a bit from the sample as the painting was supposed to be bluebonnets by sunset, I decided to do bluebonnets by sunrise…

and yes there is a difference between sunrise and sunset! lol!

a big thanks to kathy and terrie for planning this fab event!

playing with paper…

sitting here at main event waiting on the kids to finish playing… been here since 10:30! that’s 5 hours now!!!

decided to use it as a brainstorm day, brought lots of magazines, a sketch book and a book…

the book isn’t for reading though – it’s to PLAY with!

trying out new folds and stuff for the g45 steam punk spells altered book. here’s a peak at some of my experiments…

crazy fold…

roly poly page…

and crazy pocket…

I’m really trying to come up with fun and unique folds and embellies for this book!!!

class dates…

i have some info on some upcoming classes and dates i’d like to share.

the deets for the “boho chic” acrylic mini album class have been set! it will be held on saturday, august 24 from 2:30 to 5:30 at Stamp Antonio, cost is $40…

2013-06 boho chic acrylic mini album collage (1280x853)

space for this class is VERY limited due to supplies i had on hand. Stamp Antonio is now taking sign ups, you can reach them at 210-764-7900 to sign up or to get more info.

thanks to all of you who took the time to answer my survey about classes using the NEW! Graphic 45 lines. it looks like there was the most interest in doing an altered project type class using the 12 days of Christmas line. so as soon as it comes in, i’ll get to work on that! i am also trying to finish up the Halloween altered book using g45’s Steampunk Spells, so stay tuned for more info on these classes.

i have a date set for 2 classes at Scrapbook N’ More, and hope to have samples up for you soon – just waiting for a few supplies. if you’d like to pencil them in on your calendar, the classes will be held on saturday, september 7.

both classes help you get a head start on your Christmas crafting! the first class will a feature framed decor project showing you how to use ColorBox Archival Dye inks as watercolors. it will be similar to this project that i did for the ClearSnap Blog…

spring dictionary collage

except it will feature some beautiful poinsettias and have other seasonal accents.

the other class that day will feature stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop and ColorBox Crafter’s Inks. you’ll have the option of designing your own canvas project like a tote bag, apron or wine bottle bag. here’s a pic of a pillow i made using these supplies, it will give you an idea of what you can create…

TCW - pillow - tamisanders wm

i’ll also be offering a similar class at Stamp Antonio in september.

if you missed out on the Miscellany Mini Album, Live Out Loud Mini Album or Summer Fun Layout Class, there were a few kits left. you can contact Stamp Antonio for the Miscellany Mini Album and Scrapbook n’ More about the Live Out Loud Mini Album or Summer Fun Layout if you are interested.

that’s it for now! lots of stuff in the works!
