class updates…

i have been working on updating all my class info for june…

the class schedules in the sidebar have all been updated and as you can see, there are 2 new venues on it: SCRAPBOOK STUDIO and SCRAPBOOK N’ MORE.

i’ll be teaching my first classes for “myself” this month under Scrapbook Studio and i’m pretty excited about it!

here are the 2 classes that i’m offering…

the disney altered book is the next book in my “series” of altered books, but it is MUCH simpler than the other classes have been – so it is a great introduction if you haven’t taken an altered book class before. or just a quick and fun class {only 3 hours :) } if you have taken this type of class before. it’s a great way to show off your trip photos.

the summer fun mini album is a new mom & me project. so if you have kids that will soon be out of school and BORED, take them to a class! you and your child will work together on one project during the class time. and you’ll leave with a unique and fun little book that they can fill with photos of their summertime events. this class is geared to kids ages 6 and up.

Susan at Scrapbook N’ More, thanks to some persistant customers, has asked me to come teach a few classes at her store. so i’ve added some daytime classes to her june class schedule. i’ll have photos and more info up later this week.

i have also added the class supplies needed for money $aving $ketches and photoFULL at Stamp Antonio on june 2.

here are peaks at the layouts and links to the supply info…

and, later in the month, i’ll be teaching a fun and bright beach mini album at THE SCRAPBOOKING FACTORY’s  retreat…

i think that’s about all the info i have to share right now! looks like june is going to be PRETTY busy!

i am also hoping that i will be able to share some DT projects with you from Reminisce, Clearsnap and Gecko Galz later this month. i don’t think i’ll be able to leave my studio for the next month unless it’s to teach a class! LOL

father’s day mixed media album class…

i just finished the sample for the father’s day album that i’m teaching at jane’s retreat next weekend. and i do mean JUST – and NO, i’m NOT up early! i’m UP late! which is now early i guess!…

the album itself, as well as 3 of it’s pages are canvas, and you’ll be embellishing them using spritzes and the new Smooch Screens! we’ll also add some stamped designs and words to the canvas pages. The other 8 pages are “traditional” and are slipped into stitched edge page protectors. so if you need a special gift for your dad, husband, brother, son, son-in-law or grandad, you might want to come get messy next saturday! the album will be all ready for you to add photos after you finish the class, so you’ll have plenty of time to complete your book before father’s day.

you do not have to attend jane’s retreat in order to take this class. please call jane at 210-857-8697 for more info or to sign up.

class notes…

i am finally posting the pics and supply lists for may’s MONEY $AVING $KETCHES and PHOTOFULL classes…

sorry for the delay but… i’ve been under the weather, had 2 BIG events to plan and teach at AND i’ve had to move my supplies out of my studio AGAIN – for the 3rd time – in an attempt to get my countertops FINISHED! so take your pick as to WHY i am just now getting around to posting these! but i DO apologize as i know it takes time to gather photos and papers for this class, so i don’t plan to make a habit of posting the pictures and supply lists late.

here are snippets from the MONEY $AVING $KETCHES class layouts – the photos on each look similar because i did one page for each of my kiddos – but the layouts themselves ARE different…

supplies needed for this class can be found HERE

and this month’s PHOTOFULL class is thanks to an idea from MARIKO who takes my class long distance. a BIG thank you to MARIKO for this terrific idea! what idea? you’ll have to come to class to find out! but it is one i hadn’t done before and after having taught some version of this class for 7-8 years, that is PRETTY hard to do!

supplies needed for this class can be found HERE

there is still time to sign up for one or both of these classes, just call STAMP ANTONIO at (210) 764-7900 for more info or to sign up.

a BIG thank you for everyone who participated in or came out to visit us at our NSD event! we all had a fun time cropping {and doing a little shopping} all day LONG! there were lots of positive comments about the class/crop format, so hopefully we can do it again soon.

i remembered to snap a few pics during the day, but didn’t remember to snap THROUGHOUT the day as i had planned. as a result, i missed getting photos of jeri, karen or jane, but i think i got everyone else who came! you might notice that the gals are all working on the same layout in some of the shots – those were taken during the “class” part of the day and they were busy putting together one of the six layouts that they got to make…

national fallen firefighters foundation conference…

i was asked to facilitate a scrapbooking workshop for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s national conference here in san antonio this week…

it was a privilege to be able to work with this worthy organization. many of the attendees had never scrapbooked before, so it was a challenge to provide a project that would be easy to complete, yet have enough substence for a 3 hour workshop.

i designed a 20 page 8 x 8 album using Reminisce’s Unwritten line, which was simply PERFECT for this project. there are numberous embellishments that feature words about life, family and friends. so the album could be tailored to each person’s preference – they could fill the album with photos of their lost hero, family photos, or just photos from the conference showing the friendship and comaraderie of the group.

there were a few tears shed in the classes, mine included, having just lost Dad this past fall. and like most of the attendees, the wail of a fire engine’s siren makes my heart catch a little. but they were healing tears, and everyone seemed to really enjoy creating their scrapbook.

the project was designed so that even someone who had never scrapbooked before could put together their book and have something they could be proud of, and i think they were also all pleased with what they had accomplished by the end of the workshop.

at the end of the day, as i was teaching on the last day of the conference, they had a balloon release where they had all written messages to their loved ones on cards attached. there were hook and ladder trucks from a local fire department, as well as dozens of local firemen in attendance. the group was led out in a procession by a single bagpiper.

here are some photos from the conference…
