it’s been awhile…

i’ve been away for a lot longer than i had initially intended to be. problems with my vision kept me away for quite awhile, then other situations and circumstances delayed my return to my blog and work.

the good news? my vision is GREAT! better than it ever has been!

and i have been working, but have been spinning my wheels on choosing a direction for this blog and for my return to teaching.

i miss teaching, and i miss my students! although i’m not sure how many of you are still out there. i have a few ideas, but nothing concrete to share as of yet.

in the meantime, i would like to show you what i have been up to in the last year or so. i’d like to share some of the projects i’ve done while i get this blog updated and plans for teaching figured out.

i was very excited to be asked to design projects for GRAFIX to use on their new Computer Grafix packaging…

See the source image

all but the 3rd project in the grouping are mine. and you can find the photos and directions to make two of the projects  here:

Lavender Bath Salts Label

Popsicle Garland

i’d also like to share another recent project i designed for Grafix, this Retro Santa Clothespin Wreath…

44- finished wreath - wm

i’ve put together a Snapguide for it as well: Retro Santa

please keep an eye out for more projects and for a new, fresh look for my blog.

{girlfriends} altered book class

just a quick note! if you were trying to sign up for the {girlfriends} altered book class today… Scrapbook n’ More is experiencing some phone problems. i was not able to get through to them when i called earlier. i have spoken to Susan, the owner and she is looking into it now.

so PLEASE try them later, or call again tomorrow.

upcoming classes…

i will be teaching the photoFULL and money $aving $ketches classes for october and november. we’ll have to see after that! we have had some new students join, which is great. i’d like to keep this series going IF there is enough CONSISTENT interest.

i’ll be teaching both classes at Scrapbook n’ More tomorrow, tuesday, 10/25 from 10:30 to 1:30.

another upcoming class is the {girlfriends} altered book class, scheduled for saturday, november 12 from 1:00 to 6:00. this will be a departure from my usual “holiday themed” altered books. i could not resist doing something with the new FABULOUS line by Authentique…

this book will be a great way to celebrate the friendships in your life. keep it to stash and display pics and treasures from time spent with your “besties”. or make one as a gift for a very special friend {think ahead to christmas! hint hint!} i can’t wait to pull out of the frilly, blingy junque in my stash to use to embellish this book! i hope to have the sample book done soon – but it’s not quite ready yet. i got derailed by a nasty “bug” and got a bit more behind than usual :(

Scrapbook n’ More is already taking sign ups for the class, so if you want to go ahead and reserve your space, please DO SO! here are the deets as i know them right now, i’ll be adding info and the supply list as i have it…

NYC day: 1

* wordpress or my iPhone are playing hide and seek with my photos :(

I’m working on it! — tami

hi ya!

i got into New York City around noon on wednesday.

on the cab ride in, i was already texting karen (aka karenliz) to chat about and decide on a 2 o’clock matinee.

both karen and i were attending The Crafter’s Workshop Stencil U and had decided to come into the city a few days ahead for a mini vacation.

i wanted to try to CRAM in as much as possible into the short trip; especially theater and museum’s – hence the texting.

I met karen at the hotel; which by the way was GOR-geous. the Wolcott just celebrated its 100th birthday. here’s a few photos of the lobby…

i had asked for a room with an Empire State Building “view”. you did have to crane your neck up, but you could see it…

we agreed upon a play, Living in Love starring Jerry O’Connel {yum!}. the play was FAB-ulous, but maybe mr. o’connel’s bare chest a mere 50 feet away swayed me! lol!

we got caught in the rain, so had to head back to the hotel to clean up before dinner. rain was forecast for the day, but the weather was beautiful when i arrived; crisp, cool and clear. so i’d left the raincoat and umbrella i’d packed for the chance of rain when we went out to the matinee, at the hotel. couldn’t catch a cab and were almost 20 blocks from the hotel. bought a rain poncho from a street vendor and then  finally snagged a taxi.

dinner was at Sardi’s – i’ve always wanted to go…

Sean Cassidy 2nd from right on top
and Joan Collins and Katherine Hepburn…

i had the french onion soup and crabcakes…
i should have just got the appetizers size! HUGE cakes with lots of nice, large pieces of crab. and the smoked tomato aoli was great with the cakes.

after dinner it was time for Pn the 20th Century starting Kristin Chenowith. i really enjoyed it. i forgot how much smaller the NYC theatres were, you are so close to the stage!

then we walked through Times Square to catch a taxi back to the hotel.

end of day one…
