giveaway on julie fei-fan balzer blog…

hi all!

i’m still working my way through my NYC trip, but let me skip ahead a little to tell you the purpose of the trip…

TCW – the crafter’s workshop, had invited a group of us down to attend Stencil U, which was geared towards certifying us as TCW educators.

the program was the brain child of Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, a very talented multi-media artist and a signature designer for TCW. Julie led the program with the assistance of Jamie Echt, designer and founder of TCW and Cheryl Boglioli, who is currently on a spring art teaching tour.

i had sent little boxes of mixed media “junque” for all the attendees and included a few extra boxes – just in case…

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Tami Sanders using Balzer Designs Stencils

julie was generous enough to offer to give away one of the extra boxes on her blog. i had no idea she would do a full post on some of the projects i’ve done using her TCW Balzer Design Stencils: TAMI SANDERS USING BALZER DESIGNS STENCILS

julie has more photos of the contents of the box on her blog. if you would like to be entered for a chance to win this box of goodies, please click on the link above for all the details. you’ll also be able to view the projects i’ve done using julie’s stencils.

comments posted to my blog, although welcome, will NOT enter your name in the contest. you need to post to julie’s blog to be entered.

Clearsnap & Tombow Blog Hop!

11146305_10153219326871322_2324917973491212760_n

Hello and Welcome to the Tombow USA and Clearsnap Blog Hop!

For this hop we swapped products that were made for each other: Tombow Adhesives and Clearsnap Foils!

On this hop we will share easy, affordable and fun ways to use Clearsnap’s Designer Foils with Tombow adhesive as well as other fun ways Tombow and Clearsnap products work together. “Stick” with us for the next two days to be inspired!

You probably got here from Suzanne Austin’s blog but if you just stumbled across my blog

go the Tombow USA Blog (on Friday) or the Clearsnap Blog (On Saturday) to start!

NOW… here’s my project!

hello hoppers! welcome to my blog!

i have a sweet and feminine Mother’s Day project to share with you; this framed quote for Mom…

framed mother quote - tami sanders - foil technique - WM

i used a foiling technique similar to one Jennifer Priest shared on her blog: CHIC FOIL PRINTING WITH CLEARSNAP to add a little bLiNg! to my frame. i wanted the project to be soft and “frilly” with a peaches and cream color scheme and a little touch of GOLD.

foil accents are HOT right now, not only crafting but in fashion as well. Clearsnap makes a product called Design Foils which come in several colors and makes it easy for you to add a fashionable-foil accent to your projects.

to add the zig zag foiled elements to my frame, i used Tombo Mono Multi Liquid Glue and ColorBox® Chevrons Art Screen. the stencil was taped over the painted frame and then the design was filled in with thin lines of glue. a paintbrush was used to spread the glue to fill in the designs completely. then the stencil was removed and the frame set aside to let the glue dry. you’ll know it’s dry when it turns from white to clear. then, the foil was placed over the glued designs and rubbed to transfer the foil. quick, easy and best of all NEAT! no loose gold flakes to deal with.

Izink Inks were used to paint the frame. Izink Inks are a hybrid of ink and acrylic paint so they cover well and are quick to dry. they also come in lots of VIVID colors.

the paper flowers were given a kiss of peach using Peach Pastel ColorBox® Cat’s Eye Chalk Ink. the flowers and button accents were adhered to the frame using Tombo Adhesive Dots. some of the buttons that had an uneven bottom or shank remnant were adhered using Tombo Foam Tape.

the background paper for the quote was made by inking white cardstock with Banana Custard® ColorBox Pigment Ink applied using the ColorBox® Stylus & Tips. the paper was then given a sprinkling of butterflies stamped in Dune Pigment Ink. the finished paper was adhered to the frame backing using Tombo Extreme Adhesive.

the overlay was done using Computer Grafix by Grafix.

i’ve put together a Snapguide that shows how you can make this project step-by-step in both photo and written directions… Check out this guide on Snapguide

Clearsnap & Ann Butler Blog Hop!

Ann Butler Clearsnap Blog Hop 2015

Welcome to a LOVEly blog hop with Clearsnap and Ann Butler Designs! Last month at the CHA trade show, we released a new collection of foam and rubber stamps with Ann Butler Designs, called Background Basics, to compliment her line of ColorBox Crafter’s Inks and her existing faux quilting stamp lines. Today, our teams are sharing Valentine craft ideas you can make tonight for your special someone for Valentine’s Day.

hello! you have arrived at my blog – tami sanders * paper crafter, on your hop with Clearsnap and Ann Butler!

if you just stumbled upon the hop, please check out the list below so you can start at the beginning.

i’d like to share my “gifty” Valentine project with you. this {LOVE} banner can be used for decor, gifting or BOTH…

love banner - ann butler,colorbox,clearsnap,crafter's ink,blog hop,valentine,love,tami sanders - WM

the banner was made by stamping denim and canvas with the…

NEW! Ann Butler ColorBox Background Basics Stamps, ColorBox Crafter’s Inks and Art Screens.

the stamped pieces were cut apart and adhered to chipboard to mimic little quilted bits. the white denim jeans i was cutting apart for fabric had adorable little pink stitched hearts on the pockets, so i decided to use one of the pockets in the banner. you could make 4 hearts if you don’t have a pocket handy.

to make this banner a gift, write a love note or coupon for dinner, movie, etc on the tag in the pocket. if you are’t using the pocket, just make one or ALL of the chipboard hearts into a pocket by adding another chipboard heart to the back of each and leave the top open.

i’ve put together a Snapguide that lists all the supplies and step-by-step directions – with photos that you need to make this banner yourself…

Check out this guide on Snapguide

Now click-along to each blog in the hop and leave a comment on each post. Then, use the Rafflectoper widget at the end of this post to win an assortment of Ann Butler Designs’ new Background Basics stamps with Clearsnap!

Clearsnap {GOLD FOIL} Blog Hop!!!

hello!

welcome to the Clearsnap {Gold Foil} Blog Hop!

it’s titled “Gold Foil”, but you’ll see lots of foil colors besides gold used in projects on this hop. i used several different colors myself!

foil is HOT right now! you will find it embellishing everything from clothing to home decor and Clearsnap has some great products that you can use to BLING up YOUR projects!

i am showing 3 quick and easy techniques to add foil accents to chipboard as well as a frame made using the pieces from one of the techniques.

TECHNIQUE #1: adding foil accents to chipboard using dry adhesive…

001 (1024x1024)

for this chipboard heart, i left it au natural.  you could ink or paint it if you don’t like the look of the raw chipboard. the dry adhesive i used has a small “dot” pattern in it, which i like as it adds texture to the piece. i rubbed on the adhesive in different spots, and then burnished on the foil. filling in spots and overlapping them as i worked. you could also cover the chipboard piece completely with the adhesive first, then add the foil around in different areas, but i prefer the layered look i got working in small sections and slightly overlapping the adhesive and foils.

supplies:

Clearsnap: Designer Foils: Campfire, Lagoon and Cherry Pie

Grafix: Artist-Tac

Chipboard Heart

TECHNIQUE #2: adding foil accents using double sided tape…

002 (1024x1024)

i started with the same chipboard heart but this time, covered it completely with double sided tape.  then i cut strips of foil and applied them diagonally on the heart. then i added strips of a narrow double sided tape going the other way and burnished on a different foil.

supplies:

Clearsnap: Designer Foils: Plum Crazy, Lagoon, Silver Fog and Winter Sky

Scor-Pal: Score Tape: Wide and Narrow Double Sided Tape

Chipboard Heart

TECHNIQUE #3: adding foil accents using Design Adhesives…

003 (1024x718)

plain chipboard letters were first painted with Izink Inks. then once dry, Design Adhesives were applied to the letters and then foiled.

supplies:

Clearsnap: Design Adhesives: French Swirl, Designer Foil: Plum Crazy and Izink Ink: Tulip and Opaline

Chipboard Letters

here is a frame i made using the foiled “love” letters…

foil frame - wm

the frame was painted with Izink Ink. then Design Adhesives were applied in areas around the frame and then foiled. flowers and trim complete the look.

supplies:

Clearsnap: Design Adhesives: Ornate Border, Designer Foil: Siilver Fog, Izink Ink: Amethyst, Tulip and Opaline, ColorBox Pigment Ink: Burlap and Plum and ColorBox Stylus & Tips

Hydrangea Hippo: Pink Beaded Hoops

Foiled Chipboard Letters

Wood Frame

Flowers

Vintage Silver Cording

Paintbrush

here are a few hints to remember when working with the Designer Foils and Designer Adhesives:

* you can use ALL the foil on each sheet of Designer Foil. just keep applying it and moving to a spot that still has foil and applying again.

* you can use ALL of the designs on the Design Adhesive sheets too. you can cut them apart or just burnish off the portion you want, then move to apply remaining designs.

* surface must be DRY before applying Design Adhesives or Designer Foils otherwise they may not apply correctly.

* you can use a bone folder to burnish Designer Foils or Design Adhesives, but your finger works great.

i put together a Snapguide showing how to do each of the 3 foiling techniques on the chipboard pieces:
Check out this guide on Snapguide

i also put together a separate Snapguide showing how to create the frame step by step: Check out this guide on Snapguide

watch for Valentine cards featuring the 2 foiled hearts on the Clearsnap Blog in february!

Clearsnap & Fancy Pants Blog Hop

Hello! For the next few days Fancy Pants and Clearsnap are having a BLOG HOP! LOTS of great projects with LOTS of great products!

Check the CLEARSNAP BLOG and the FANCY PANTS BLOG for previews and links to the blogs of participating designers…

Hi! Tami Sanders here, welcome to my blog!

The project I made was a banner featuring my 3 handsome boys – my 2 sons and my hubbie – using goodies from Fancy Pants and Clearsnap.

I wanted a smaller scale banner that I could hang in my studio and the size of the Fancy Pants embellies and letters worked really well.

I loved the Corrugate Paper and decided it would be perfect for the base of banner and assorted Fancy Pants embellies were used to dress up the piece…

take a look at the banner – finished size is just a little under 24″ if you lay it out straight…

home banner _ clearsnap_fancy pants_dye ink_spritz_sprays_colorbox spritzers_altered banner_tami sanders - wm

The flag banner pieces were cut from the Kraft Corrugated Paper and measure about 4 X 6. I used the ColorBox Stylus & Tips to ink the raised areas using Jasmine Mix’d Media Ink. The edges were distressed using Chestnut Roan and Charcoal Cat’s Eye Chalk Inks

home banner _ clearsnap_fancy pants_dye ink_spritz_sprays_colorbox spritzers_altered banner_tami sanders - rob (682x1024)     home banner _ clearsnap_fancy pants_dye ink_spritz_sprays_colorbox spritzers_altered banner_tami sanders - drew (683x1024)     home banner _ clearsnap_fancy pants_dye ink_spritz_sprays_colorbox spritzers_altered banner_tami sanders - chris (682x1024)

The rounded banner pieces were made using the White Corrugated Paper and measure about 3 X 4. I placed them in the Color Catcher and sprayed them with assorted inks: Bubblegum Premium Sprays!, and ColorBox Spritzers in Lemon Drop, Mermaid and Pumpkin Pie. I thought those colors complimented the Fancy Pants embellies and papers. The edges were distressed using Chestnut Roan Cat’s Eye Chalk Ink

home banner _ clearsnap_fancy pants_dye ink_spritz_sprays_colorbox spritzers_altered banner_tami sanders - cu letter (683x1024)

Now that the base of the banner was done, it was time to DRESS IT UP! I started by printing 2 X 3 photos {be sure to add a frame or cut them out a little larger} which fit perfectly in the windows of the As You WishPatterned Photo Frames.  The edges were distressed using Chestnut Roan Cat’s Eye Chalk Ink then I laid them out on the kraft banner flags.

Next came the larger embellishments, I liked the happy little sentiments found in the “Burlap & Bouquets” Ephemera Pack. So I added them to the sides of the framed photos, overlapping the edges of the banner pieces.

Then I layered on some smaller embellies from the Ephemera Pack, like the arrows and feathers. And more is better right? So on went a few of the stickers from the Burlap & Bouquets Label Sticker Sheet.

It was time to add the sentiment to this banner, so I picked out the “Burlap & Bouquets” Burlap Alpha Stickers. Not happy to ever leave any surface uninked, I placed the letters I wanted to use “HOME” on waxed paper and stamped with with tiny stars {from Viva Las Vegas’ Pound O’ Rubber} using Black Surfacez Ink. I thought the letters needed some “grounding” before adding them to the rounded banner pieces, so I punched circles from the 6 X 6 Me-ology Paper Pad and added the letters to the centers.

The rounded banner pieces still seemed a little “naked”, so I cut lopsided triangles from “As You Wish” Dictionary Printed Paper. The triangles were inked using Prussian Blue Cat’s Eye Chalk Ink and the circles with Chestnut Roan before being adhered to the banner pieces.

I used brads to link all the pieces together and thought it looked good – but could use just a “little” more embellishing! So I found the “Everyday Circus” Button Set and added a few for the finishing touch!

Then all that was left was to punch holes in the ends and add cord for hanging.

i hope you enjoyed this project! Keep on hopping for MORE great projects from the very talented Fancy Pants and Clearsnap Designers!

DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE GIVEAWAY! Info can be found on the CLEARSNAP BLOG!

happy hopping!

Clearsnap & Smoothfoam Blog Hop

Welcome to the Clearsnap and Smoothfoam Blog Hop!

Hop along to each blog in the hop list to see inspiring ways to use Smoothfoam with Clearsnap’s ink, created by our teams of designers.

Be sure to comment on each blog in the hop, then use the Rafflecopter widget at the end of this post to enter to win a prize pack of Smoothfoam and Clearsnap goodies!

hi ya! you have arrived at my blog: tami sanders * paper crafter, you should have just come from the Flores Tanis Studio Blog – welcome!

my project is a memo board made using the 12 X 12 Scrapbook Page Mount from Smoothfoam and inks and more from Clearsnap

clearsnap_smoothfoam_blog hop_tami sanders_crafters ink_colorbox_dorm deco_memo board - wm

i needed a lightweight memo board that would easily attach to a cabinet in my studio without damaging it. i didn’t want to use a nail or something similar, i was thinking more along the lines of poster tac or one of those non-damaging hooks. most traditional memo boards are too heavy to attach that way.

i started with a plain piece of unbleached canvas, then spritzed it using several different colors of ColorBox® Spritzers: Pumpkin Pie, Pinkolicious, Lemon Drop, Mermaid and Grasshopper, the added a stenciled pattern using Black ColorBox® Crafter’s Ink applied using the ColorBox® Stylus & Tips.

i think this board would well in dorm rooms also; where you have to be careful not to damage the walls.

i put together a Snapguide that shows how to make this project step-by-step, you can view it here…

Here is the HOP LIST…
