christmas classes…

if you’ve got some time for crafting this holiday season, i have 2 class offerings for you…

both feature Graphic 45’s Christmas Emporium line and Clearsnap products…

there are still a few spots left in my CHRISTMAS SPIRIT altered book class that i’ll be teaching at Stamp Antonio on sunday, december 4th…

this book is part of my series of altered books and includes some new folds and ideas. a free follow up class will be offered on december 15 to give you an opportunity to finish up any details that we don’t get to complete in class.

call Stamp Antonio at 210-764-7900 to sign up or to get more information.

and on saturday, december 10th, i’ll be teaching MERRY OL’ CHRISTMAS altered ATC tray at Scrapbook N’ More in new braunfels…

in this class, we’ll be create a vintage-inspired Christmas Décor’ piece that you will enjoy displaying for years to come. papers from Graphic 45’s Christmas Emporium line, products from Clearsnap, and goodies from my vintage and not so vintage stash will be used to turn an ATC tray from plain to fabulous! lots of tiny details that will have you and your guests noticing something new each time you look at it.

you will need to chose black or winter white for the color of the tray when you sign up, so call early to ensure you get the color you want. please call Scrapbook N’ More at (830) 214-1690 or e-mail susan at create@scrapbooknmore.net for more information or to sign up. Scrapbook N’ More had been having trouble with their phone lines, so please e-mail if you can’t reach them by phone.

and for both of these classes, please note that some pieces and images may vary from the sample.

space for each is also very limited due to supplies on hand, so be sure to sign up early if you would like to take either of them.

class supplies for both classes can be found in my left sidebar, right under the snow angel blinkie.

feel free to contact me with any questions you have!

upcoming classes…

i’d gotten a few questions about the 2 classes that i’m teaching at the retreat on december 4th, so i thought i’d provide a little more info…

no — you don’t have to attend the retreat in order to attend one or both of the classes, although preference is given to those who are attending the retreat in the event that the classes fill up.

the retreat and classes will be held at the downtown Doubletree Hotel at 502 W. Durango. you can contact jane, by email: jane@thescrapbookingfactory.com or phone: 210-857-8697, to sign up for the classes, retreat or both.

the “dates to remember” class will be taught from 2:00 to 3:00 and the “santa Christmas banner” will run from 3:30 to 6:00 and the cost for either class is $20.00.

if you can’t make the class {or classes} but want to get a kit, just contact jane and let her know that.

i only have 12 kits available for each of the classes, so please contact her soon if you are interested.

there is also still space available in the class that i’m teaching at Scrapbook Cottage as well.

AND — if you don’t know what classes i’m talking about, just jump down to THIS POST to see pics of all 3 projects i’ll be teaching saturday.

thanks for your interest!

upcoming classes…

as some of you know; i’ll be taking MOST of december off…

i WILL be teaching 3 classes, all on the same day – DECEMBER 4, but at 2 separate locations! busy day! LOL!

first, in the morning from 10:30 to 12:30, i’ll be at SCRAPBOOK COTTAGE teaching a 2 page “flip” layout – part of my PHOTOFULL series using the new Gingerbread Lane papers by Reminisce…

this layout may LOOK like a typical 2 page layout – but it’s NOT! there is actually room for about 25 LARGE size photos on this layout thanks to some special flips i’ve added. and the pages will slip right into your regular page protectors, but will still allow you to view ALL your photos! it’s like getting a 6 page layout! everything is precut and the ribbons and trims {except for the title} are included. and you’ll not only get a layout all ready and done for your Christmas photos, but you’ll also learn some techniques that you can use on pages YOU design. and ALL for only $15!

please call SCRAPBOOK COTTAGE at 210-494-4441 for more info or if you are interested in signing up for this class.

then, i’ll be teaching 2 classes in the afternoon at a scrapbooking retreat put on by Jane at the SCRAPBOOKING FACTORY.

the first project is “dates to remember” planner

this project is perfect for yourself OR to give as a gift! {or make 2 and give one AND keep one!}

then, the next project is “santa Christmas banner”; a vintage-inspired decor piece to display a few of your photos from Christmas’ past…

the cost of the 3 day retreat – during which you can come and go ANYTIME from 3 o’clock on friday, december 3 to until 5 o’clock december 5 is only $35.00! this retreat is being held at the Double Tree hotel in downtown San Antonio {the locations of Jane’s retreats vary from month to month}. and there is also a special room package available if you wish to make a getaway out of the retreat and stay a night or the weekend at the hotel. you can see the details and sign up for the retreat HERE.

the $35.00 for the retreat does not include the cost of the classes, so please contact Jane for more details about class cost or to sign up.

and if you are not in or around the san antonio area, but are interested in any of these classes, please contact ME! i might be able to get you a kit.

and I don’t know what is going on with the Scrapbook 911 web calendar, although i’ve given them this correction twice, and the class has been removed from the calendar twice — their web calendar is once again showing that I have a class scheduled on november 29. i DO not, repeat, DO NOT have a class scheduled that day! so please spread the word! i don’t want anyone to show up and be disappointed!

thanks!

pennies from heaven…

debby schuh is in town and is teaching at my “home” lss – scrapbook 911 this weekend. she has 3 terrific classes lined up and i was lucky enough to snag a spot in one of her classes last night!

i took her PENNIES FROM HEAVEN class; a blessings journal. the theme “pennies from heaven” is personal favorite of debby’s – you can read about it on her blog. she suggested that we use this book to write down all the blessings and good things that happen to us throughout the year – big or small, so that at the end of the year we could look back and remember ALL the wonderful blessings we had. sometimes, they get lost among all the BAD things that happened! why is that! i thought the idea was wonderful, and had been looking forward to the class for quite awhile.

the class did NOT dissapoint! it was a TERRIFIC class and debby is an AWESOME instructor! everything was SO well prepared and the class ran very smoothly. it was just a nice pleasant paced class that was easy to follow and complete. debby even had step by step samples and a slide show to go along with her instruction. there were also lots of imaginative folding techniques – i LOVE playing with paper! debby told us that when she worked for anna griffin, that was a lot of what she did – just sitting and seeing how many ways she could fold a piece of paper. i like to do that when i’m devloping a new mini album idea – just sit and fold scraps of paper til i find something i like. now i have a NEW level of skill at paper “playing” to aspire to! debby is an EXPERT at taking a simple piece of paper and transforming it with just a few simple folds!

i snapped a few photos during the class – with the flash off of course – as well as a few pics of my project, here’s a small slide show for you:

i would HIGHLY recommend that you take any of debby’s classes if she is ever in your area { i hear she is going to be in houston at BY DESIGN soon! }

new companies i liked…

The Paper Element, they had a nice variety of new collections,  and i really liked their Hot Chocolate line – it would be great for “coffee” projects or layouts. their new lines are not posted on the website yet, but some of the older ones are REALLY great so take a look!

Mollie and Mac, they only had ONE collection, but i REALLY liked it! it had a vintage feel in very mixable dark reds and blues.

TaDa, i liked the colors and designs of their collections, and i really liked their diecut papers – they had some really unique styles!

my show favorites…

Prima – they are NOT just a “flower” company any more! this booth had a FABULOUS WOW factor! they had it all – great papers, great embellies, trims, projects, and of course more flowers than you can shake a stick at! LOL! they also have a new hybrid line for those of you who digi! i found a LOT to look at and a LOT to love from Prima!

Graphic 45 – i just can’t say enough good things about this company! i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their lines! being a vintage fanatic, this company is right up my alley! their booth was decked out to the 9’s with ABSOLUTELY STUNNING vignettes filled with AMAZING projects! their new lines BOTANICABELLA and PLAYTIME PAST are just GORGEOUS! i can’t wait to get my hands on some!

Maya Road – another exciting booth, i asked jessica to show me the new products and she walked me around the ENTIRE booth! there was TONS of new stuff! i really liked their MAYA MISTS, DIECUT SHEER SHEETS and new CLEAR RIBBONS too! The MAYA MISTS come in gorgeous MATTE colors and look amazing on chipboard. there are also some shimmery shades – silver, gold and copper that you can use alone or on top of the other colors. the DIECUT SHEER SHEETS are perfect to use as masks on chipboard or paper when using the MAYA MISTS, or you could cut them apart and use them on a layout! i don’t see all the new things on their website yet, but i’m sure they will be updating soon!

Scenic Route – always one of my favorites – i just LOVE their colors and styles! i particularly like the new SONOMA line. i liked the mix of somewhat contemporary large print papers with small print vintage style papers.

October Afternoon – i didn’t see the new lines on their website yet, but i’m sure they will be updating soon! having 2 BOYS, i’m always on the outlook for BOY lines! i found lines i liked at OA, and a lot of the colors in their collections work for BOY layouts too!

Glitz – i LOVE the pop-graphic vibe going on at glitz! all those fabulous bright colors bouncing off your basic black and white! LOVE IT!

Piggy Tales – i liked a lot of their new lines, especially ITSY BITSY SPIDER, LOVE the color combo of yellow, black, white and lime green! (didn’t see the new lines up yet!)

Jenni Bowlin – i thought her new CREPE PAPER RIBBONS were fun and unique!

Ranger – who can ever have enough STICKLES! i like the new ones that Ranger has introduced in the Distress colors!

Luxe – LOVE the new SIMPLY LUXE line, as the name inplies it is a simple line – but it is SIMPLY FABULOUS! great basic colors in FAB designs to mix and match!

Crate Paper – another one of my must have lines!

Pink Paislee – LOVE the PIXEE STICKS! new glitters!

Webster’s Pages – LOVE their new CALENDAR PAGES, they are gorgeous! they come in 12 X 12 and 6 X 6.

Reminisce – their new ENCHANTED AUTUMN line used HOLOGRAPHIC paper that is TOTALLY unique! i didn’t see anything even close to it at the show. you HAVE to see this line in person, photos don’t do it justice. you can see a little bit of the HOLO effect if you look at my CHA projects, the pics of the party set capture it best. i also love their new school line MAKING THE GRADE, this one has it ALL, papers, embellies, 3D stickers, alpha stickers, 12 X 12 stickers and MORE!

trends i spotted…

MORE BLING! bling is BIG! most of the lines now have some type of specialty papers, glittered, shimmery, embossed, etc. GCD introduced new double sided shimmer papers, Chatterbox had all kinds of BLINGY papers, Reminisce had the new HOLO paper in their Enchanted Autumn line and their FROSTED line is literally dripping with glittery effects!

back to basics – at least color-wise, i spotted several companies who introduced lines with “solid” colors, that isn’t to say they didn’t have patterns to them, just that they were mainly one color with either black and white elements or some type of BLINGY element! look for them with Chatterbox, Doodlebug, Pebbles Inc and Luxe.

i’ve also included a few photos from our outings in Chicago, you can see them HERE!

well, i guess that’s about it, i hope you have enjoyed my views from CHA!!!

note: because i’ve seen it asked about and commented on in message boards…

i took a LOT of these photos before the show opened each day, so that is why there aren’t crowds or a lot of people in the background. i was also VERY patient; and for those photos taken when the show was open, i waited for “clear shots”!

thanks for the great response to this post!
