tami sanders * paper crafter

tami sanders is a paper crafter that teaches locally and does design work for a few companies…

upcoming classes…

i’d gotten a few questions about the 2 classes that i’m teaching at the retreat on december 4th, so i thought i’d provide a little more info…

no — you don’t have to attend the retreat in order to attend one or both of the classes, although preference is given to those who are attending the retreat in the event that the classes fill up.

the retreat and classes will be held at the downtown Doubletree Hotel at 502 W. Durango. you can contact jane, by email: jane@thescrapbookingfactory.com or phone: 210-857-8697, to sign up for the classes, retreat or both.

the “dates to remember” class will be taught from 2:00 to 3:00 and the “santa Christmas banner” will run from 3:30 to 6:00 and the cost for either class is $20.00.

if you can’t make the class {or classes} but want to get a kit, just contact jane and let her know that.

i only have 12 kits available for each of the classes, so please contact her soon if you are interested.

there is also still space available in the class that i’m teaching at Scrapbook Cottage as well.

AND — if you don’t know what classes i’m talking about, just jump down to THIS POST to see pics of all 3 projects i’ll be teaching saturday.

thanks for your interest!

upcoming classes…

as some of you know; i’ll be taking MOST of december off…

i WILL be teaching 3 classes, all on the same day – DECEMBER 4, but at 2 separate locations! busy day! LOL!

first, in the morning from 10:30 to 12:30, i’ll be at SCRAPBOOK COTTAGE teaching a 2 page “flip” layout – part of my PHOTOFULL series using the new Gingerbread Lane papers by Reminisce…

this layout may LOOK like a typical 2 page layout – but it’s NOT! there is actually room for about 25 LARGE size photos on this layout thanks to some special flips i’ve added. and the pages will slip right into your regular page protectors, but will still allow you to view ALL your photos! it’s like getting a 6 page layout! everything is precut and the ribbons and trims {except for the title} are included. and you’ll not only get a layout all ready and done for your Christmas photos, but you’ll also learn some techniques that you can use on pages YOU design. and ALL for only $15!

please call SCRAPBOOK COTTAGE at 210-494-4441 for more info or if you are interested in signing up for this class.

then, i’ll be teaching 2 classes in the afternoon at a scrapbooking retreat put on by Jane at the SCRAPBOOKING FACTORY.

the first project is “dates to remember” planner

this project is perfect for yourself OR to give as a gift! {or make 2 and give one AND keep one!}

then, the next project is “santa Christmas banner”; a vintage-inspired decor piece to display a few of your photos from Christmas’ past…

the cost of the 3 day retreat – during which you can come and go ANYTIME from 3 o’clock on friday, december 3 to until 5 o’clock december 5 is only $35.00! this retreat is being held at the Double Tree hotel in downtown San Antonio {the locations of Jane’s retreats vary from month to month}. and there is also a special room package available if you wish to make a getaway out of the retreat and stay a night or the weekend at the hotel. you can see the details and sign up for the retreat HERE.

the $35.00 for the retreat does not include the cost of the classes, so please contact Jane for more details about class cost or to sign up.

and if you are not in or around the san antonio area, but are interested in any of these classes, please contact ME! i might be able to get you a kit.

and I don’t know what is going on with the Scrapbook 911 web calendar, although i’ve given them this correction twice, and the class has been removed from the calendar twice — their web calendar is once again showing that I have a class scheduled on november 29. i DO not, repeat, DO NOT have a class scheduled that day! so please spread the word! i don’t want anyone to show up and be disappointed!

if i’m dreaming…

PLEASE… whatever you do — DON’T pinch me! i don’t want to wake up! LOL!

i submitted to the Teresa Collins design team call a few weeks ago…

i love Teresa Collins’ lines, the slightly shabby, vintage-inspired designs with crisp, bold, graphics and clean and simple black and white. it’s ME all wrapped up in a paper line! LOL! although i love all things vintage, i find my designs leaning more toward clean and linear, so working with TC papers and embellies are right up my alley. and i love that when i use her products, no matter what i do to them – the finished project comes out looking like it belongs in a boutique. her papers and embellies are like MAGIC, you can’t mess them up! LOL!

anyway, i had done several projects using some of her newest lines, so since i already had things to submit, i decided to give it a whirl.

e-mails were supposed to go out yesterday to the finalists, and i admit, i was a little disappointed – but not really surprised – when i didn’t get an e-mail.

i was poking around the computer this morning and went to read teresa’s blog to see if the finalists had been listed. my pal angela {fellow reminisce dt member} had tried out too and i thought maybe she might have made the cut. imagine my surprise when i found not only angela’s name {GO GIRL!} but mine as well! i had to read the list twice! color me SHOCKED!

of course there were only supposed to be 25 finalists, but as my friend tinka pointed out, there were actually 67! that is SIXTY SEVEN! i have NO idea how many spots there are on the team, but the odds are PRETTY high that MOST of those on that list of 67 are NOT gonna make the FINAL cut. so i am NOT holding my breath to make THAT list {although it would be FABULOUS!}

but i’m just REALLY, REALLY, REALLY happy to be one of the finalists. yesterday, i was a bit down thinking that i didn’t have what it took to be on teresa’s design team – and what was i thinking to even have submitted. but today, i’m happy and feeling validated. it was a MUCH needed pick me up and a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY nice surprise.

here are the 3 projects i submitted, all had previously been posted on my blog…

thank you for letting me share the news with you…

and MORE new kits…

since i’m planning on taking december off {we’ll see how that goes!} i was trying to get things cleaned up and projects finished up so i could start with a clean slate for the new year. i KNOW it’s early to start thinking about 2011, but my philosophy is that once halloween has come and gone, you are on a STEEP, DOWNHILL slide to Christmas and New Years!

i had lots of bits and pieces leftover from classes and projects, so i decided to make MORE kits! i’ll be putting all 3 of these kits out at SCRAPBOOK 911 on monday…

cheap frills… $9.99 kit… “grateful” using papers and embellishments  from Teresa Collins’ Give Thanks line…

{page one of this layout has a pale ivory background that doesn’t show up too well in the scan}

another cheap frills… $9.99 kit… “scarecrow” using papers and embellishments from Bella BLVD’s One Fall Day line…

and, last but not least, “birthday star” using papers and embellishments from Teresa Collins’ Celebrate line…

{the kit is $12.99 and comes in 2 versions, kids and adults; the tags are different. the kid version is shown}

here are the tags that are included in the adult version of the kit…

and, there were still a few of the “blessed house” wall decor kits left; which are nice to display any time of the year and could be a thoughtful gift idea…

if you aren’t in san antonio, Scrapbook 911 does ship. so if you ever see any kits or class projects posted here that you are interested in, just e-mail me, or give SCRAPBOOK 911 a call.

all of the kits, and most of my class projects {except altered books and a few others} include full color photos and complete directions. and the pieces are pretty much all precut too, which means they are quick and easy to put together.

i still have MORE goodies in my “kit” stash, so there may be a few more kits posted before the month is out!

class info and new kits!

for those of you who came to last weeks “regular” monday classes… i hope you are ready to do it all again THIS monday – november 1!

since i needed to reschedule my october classes, i moved them to the end of the month, which was fine, but i hadn’t realized that meant they would end up being back to back with my NOVEMBER first monday classes!

so — i hope you are geared up and ready for SIMPLE SKETCHES and PHOTOFULL!
also, one of my “regulars” pointed out that somehow SIMPLE SKETCHES was listed TWICE on the november calendar. the NOVEMBER 1 date IS correct, the NOVEMBER 29 date is NOT!

monday, november 15 i’ll be teaching MONEY $AVING $KETCHES from 10:00 to 1:00 and PHOTOFULL RERUN from 2:00 to 4:00. PHOTOFULL RERUN is just that – a RERUN of the night class for that month. so if you miss the evening class, or the afternoon just works better for you, come to the RERUN class. it is IDENTICAL to the evening class for that month – so you don’t need to come to both!

and my MOM & ME class will be on saturday, november 13 from 10:30 to 12:30 — we’ll be making a blessings jar and a gratitude journal set.

i’ll also be hosting the crop on friday, november 19 – so if you have any of my class kits that you haven’t gotten around to doing, plan to come and bring them along! i’ll be glad to help you with them, or any other projects or layouts you have!

and just in case you missed the announcement – DON’T panic when you don’t see any of my regular classes listed for december! i’m taking the month off! but i’ve already begun scheduling classes for 2011, so look for all my regular classes to start up again in january.

now — on to kits! i have 2 brand new kits that are designed with the THANKSGIVING season in mind…

first is a wall decor project that holds a family photo…

the cost is $24.99 and the kit includes step by step directions with color photos. this project could be displayed during fall or year round depending on your decor. the Thanksgiving holiday is not specifically mentioned in this piece. this kit is already out and ready for purchase at Scrapbook 911.

then, i have a 2 page Thanksgiving layout kit…

the cost of this kit is $12.99 and it will be available on monday, november 1.

both kits feature the new GIVING THANKS line by Teresa Collins. AND — both kits are very limited, so please stop by Scrapbook 911 and snag one if you are interested.

well, that’s it for now!

SCRAPBOOK 911 is having an auction to benefit GUIDE DOGS OF TEXAS

staff, instructors and customers have donated handmade items to be auctioned off by silent auction with all proceeds to be donated to Guide Dogs of Texas.

the auction will officially kick off this weekend during the annual “Shirley” crop. but some of the items are already out and getting bids!

there are some pretty terrific items, several mini books, some great Christmas items, and i also noticed several pieces of jewelry.

i made a “dates to remember” book as my donation…

there is a page for each month that you can list all your important dates on: birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

then there are pages for notes for each month, you can list gift ideas, shopping lists, or any other notes that would be helpful. each set of note pages also doubles as a pocket. so you have a handy place to tuck any receipts, or business cards, or any other info that you need to keep handy.

the book uses papers from Graphic 45’s new Steampunk Debutante line and from Teresa Collin’s new Giving Thanks line.

So make sure you go by the store soon to check out all the auction items and to bid on any that catch your eye. i also heard that jennie would be listing the auction items on the web, so you may be able to bid that way as well. check the Scrapbook 911 blog for details on that.

—and REMEMBER, the proceeds benefit the Guide Dogs of Texas, a VERY worthy organization so PLEASE bid generously! {and you can take it as a tax deduction :)}

new class!

i have just added a brand new class to the calendar at SCRAPBOOK 911…

here are some photos of my “countdown to Christmas shadowbox”…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

who doesn’t get excited about Christmas? who doesn’t count the days til it’s time to open all the gifts? this calendar will make it easy to keep track of the days; just move the little mini Christmas tree from window to window to count down the days.

inks, stamps, paint, vintage goodies and papers & embellies by Teresa Collins have all been used to create this project.

start a new tradition at your house, or continue to celebrate the “countdown” tradition with a new calendar this year. you’ll be proud to show off this Christmas project year after year.

the class is scheduled for saturday, october 23 from 1:00 to 5:30. space is very limited due to limited supplies, so please call SCRAPBOOK 911 to sign up or for more info.

in the pink!

i shared the birthday mini book i made using the new Celebration line by Teresa Collins last week, and today, i wanted to share the other mini album i made!

this one uses mainly papers from the FREESTYLE line with a few black and white papers from Noel and Giving Thanks thrown in for good measure.

having 2 boys, i don’t usually get to work with anything PINK or BLINGY! so getting to make this girlie-girl album for a friend was a LOT of fun!

here’s a slideshow of the mini book…

happy birthday mom!

my mom’s birthday was this week…

i had no idea what to get her though. when i was younger, birthdays were SO exciting, the list of things i wanted was HUGE! now, most b-days i can’t think of too many things i actually need. and UGGH – when did birthdays start being about things i NEED instead of about things i WANT! but, i guess as you get older {DOUBLE UUUGGH} you realize that you actually have to find a home in your home for stuff, so you better make sure you NEED it! LOL! mom’s been at that point for awhile, there isn’t much she needs, and i can only come up with so many ideas for “practical” and “useful” gifts. SO, this year, i decided to just give a gift from the heart.

i was INSPIRED by the new Teresa Collins lines that Scrapbook 911 got in. i was at the store over the weekend for a retreat, so i thought about making mom a mini album for her b-day. i wanted it to be more of a “card”, not something with pics, just journaling. Things you think about but don’t always put into words. i wanted her to READ and KNOW how wonderful her family thinks she is.

So i started with papers from the Celebrate line, then added some black and white patterned papers from Noel and Giving Thanks. i like mixing bright, vivid printed papers with black and white patterns. it grounds them and gives the bold shades something to “bounce” off of.

here’s a slideshow of the album, complete with closeups of the embellies…

i had so much fun putting this album together for my mom that i decided to make another one for a friend. i’ll be sharing it in a few days, so check back {hint – think pink and girlie-girl!}

halloween post #1

i LOVE halloween! only Christmas tops it on my list of favorite HOWL-i-days! as a kid, i loved to dress up for halloween. mom made me an awesomely SCARY witch costume in elementary school. i won first place in the costume contest that year. i also remember a tiger costume (or at least i remember seeing pics of myself in it). now, i enjoy making costumes for my kiddos. i’ve made all sorts of costumes: a monkey, a skunk, a dragon, harry potter, a clown, a magician, a knight – most of them are still hanging in the back of my closet. what do you do with those things? i’d give them away, but i keep remembering how darn long they took me to make! LOL!

i haven’t taken the boys to the fabric store to check out the costume patterns yet. but time is CREEPING up on me so i better take them soon or i won’t have a GHOST of a chance of finishing them on time! i don’t know what they want to be this year, but i DO know that the costumes WILL match the SEI halloween paper i bought! LOL! i already have the layout done (keep an eye out for it later this month).

i also collect vintage holiday decorations – but i haven’t gotten around to getting them out either. if i don’t put them up soon, it will be time to take them down. LOL! i guess i should at least pull the “spring” wreath off the door and hang up the halloween sign – maybe tomorrow. i don’t know what i’ll wear for halloween either, probably the same black shirt and SPOOKY KOOKY halloween socks i’ve worn the past 2 years – BORING! well, i did pair the socks with lime green sneakers, does that count?

so with halloween LOOMING near, i’ve been getting into the SPIRIT by playing with some of the fa-BOO-lous halloween papers that i saw at CHA. scrapbook911 got in a HOARD of the lines and i just HAD to try out my favorites! i just couldn’t choose – they were all fun! i didn’t have pics for all the lines i wanted to play with though, so i decided to do some store samples. i’ll be sharing them with you this month.

here’s the first layout i did; it features SPOOKTACULAR by TERESA COLLINS:

I’m also reposting the Halloween projects i did for REMINISCE.  they introduced 2 new halloween lines at CHA, ENCHANTED AUTUMN and SCARE TACTICS.

here are the projects i did using ENCHANTED AUTUMN:

 and here are my projects using SCARE TACTICS:

do you have any BOO-dacious projects to share? or maybe some BAT-tastic costume pics? if you do, please send them my way!

BOO ya’ll!
