the clock strikes again…

i taught the halloween tryptic “stroke of midnight” at scrapbook n’ more today; the attendees left with hands covered in alternating layers of glue, ink and feathers! but they also left with a halloween decor piece to display!

for those of you who missed it, guess what — you DIDN’T! due to requests, i will be teaching this same class again at Stamp Antonio on sunday, october 7. the date is set, but the time is TBA. it will be in the afternoon and run 4-4 1/2 hours.  i’ll post again as soon as the time is decided on.

i’ll only have 12 spots, so if you are interested, please sign up soon. this class is not hard, but there are lots of parts and pieces, so kits may be a challenge.

thanks!

all dressed up…

here’s a pic of my kiddos all dressed up for halloween!

drew decided he wanted to dress up too this year – but he wanted a “cosplay” costume. so he’s a “steampunk time traveler” / “dr. who-esque” character! GOT ALL THAT? his costume took FOREVER to make, had some trouble with WRONG directions on the pattern, but i think he looks nice in it.

chris’ costume is a little more straight forward, he’s a zombie pirate! this is the first year i’ve let either kid go as something SCARY! we even used FAKE BLOOD! i had talked chris into wearing drew’s “captain jack sparrow” costume i made a few years back and making it into a zombie pirate instead, and he liked that idea. {and i didn’t have to make TWO costumes!}

they both had a good time last night and were WIPED out this morning! i had trouble getting them up and off to school.

rob took chris around my mom’s neighborhood trick-or-treating… drew went for awhile, then came back to my mom’s house and helped us pass out candy. he was making some comments about some of the “hot girl” costumes – so i think he’s beginning to see halloween through “teen” eyes! LOL!

i’d love to see pics of YOUR little trick-or-treaters!

too late for a little halloween-ey layout?

i know halloween is over, but i had taken a photo a few weeks ago that i was anxious to scrap!

chris, poor little thing, has quite the crooked smile right now. his mouth is too small for all the new teeth he has coming it. he has several empty spaces in front where he’s lost teeth and a few half filled spaces where they are trying to come in. while on a field trip to DEVINE ACRES, i noticed that one of his classmates, rebecca, had a similar smile! so i asked her if she’d pose with chris for a pic of their “jack o’ lantern” smiles.

the photo came out great! and i knew EXACTLY what the title should be!

 jackolantern smiles

the chipboard tag says it all “so cute it’s SCARY!” LOL!

i used last years halloween line by scenic route – salem, and some older lil’ davis chipboard letters to add the smile title. i thought i’d do a little goodbye tribute to scenic route as they were one of my FAVORITE lines! i’m sad to see them go.

i’m working on some halloween layouts and hope to have them up soon!

halloween book…

last christmas, mom asked me to make her an album of the kids in all their halloween costumes. i thought that would be a fun album to put together.

so i gathered up pics of the boys in their spooky finery as well as papers and embellishments in halloween themes or colors {leftover scraps too!}. i decided to do 8 X 8 pages since mom mainly wanted photos of the costumes. i think 8 X 8 is an easy size to work with, and it allows room for embellishment and titles when using a 4 X 6 photo.

I still owe her some pages; i’ll have to dig up some of my earlier halloween photos, but here are the pages that i did for her last christmas…

i bought a black 8 X 8 album and embellished the cover to put them all in. mom was happy with her gift, and i started thinking about making my OWN halloween book!

halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and there are BUNCHES of halloween paper lines and embellishments out there. and it’s a FUN event to scrap too! you can use crazy colors or mix and match paper lines, or distress things to your hearts content! it’s a great time to turn your imagination loose on your pages!

treat bucket v2…

is everyone almost ready for halloween?

are the costumes ready? how about the SPOOKY decorations? got the candy? got something to put the candy in?

if the answer to the first three questions was “NO” – then you better get busy — AND FAST! LOL

if the answer to the last questions was “NO”, then i might be able to help you out!

barb liked the treat bucket that i made for Reminisce, so she decided to make her own! here’s her version of the altered wood trash can/treat bucket:

i think it’s adorable! i love all the fun, bright colors barb used in her version.

barb was nice enough to send me photos of her project to post on my blog. you can see more of barb’s projects on her blog: THE INVISIBLE PIPER.

and remember, you can find the directions for my treat bucket on craftplace.org or, you can find barb’s directions on her blog.

thanks again to barb for sharing her project!
