scrapbook GARAGE SALE!!!

hello!

first, i wanted to share a layout with you today…

basketball layout - reminisce - wm

team photos can sometimes be hard to crop, the photos are usually a larger size, making them hard to fit on one page, but they aren’t big enough to go on a 2 page layout unless you really dress up the layout and fill in the empty spaces.

i do mainly 2 page layouts, so squeezing the photos on a one pager wasn’t really an option. fortunately, i didn’t have to do too much in the way of “fill” as the papers i used supplied that.

i used the NEW! The Basketball Collection from REMINISCE.

there is a great selection of both papers and embellishments that make it easy to customize your layout.

and NEXT! i’d like to remind you about the SCRAPBOOK GARAGE SALE at Scrapbook n’ More this saturday, january 16th. you can get more details on the Scrapbook n’ More facebook page. the important things to remember are come early to get the best deals – doors open at 9AM sharp – and bring CA$H! garage sale items are CA$H ONLY!

i will be taking LOTS of stuff: papers, embellies, stamps, some new kits and MORE!!! i believe my stuff will be in a corner on a card table and maybe nearby table too! seller ID is TS13.

end of retreat…

well, the retreat is over (sigh) back to life… it was a nice break while it lasted.

i was very productive too, i finished 3 more layouts today, drew’s bday for chris’ book, and a layout of decorating the tree for both of them.

these two are completely done…

the third payout was a version of the Christmas deck-o-rating layout for drew’s book. it’s almost finished just needs a few finishing touches.

not too bad for a weekend!

Now that you have all the “deets”, onto the project!

Since a lot of my “viewers” are scrapbookers, I decided to do a 2 page layout…

I started with the idea of a scattering of different sized squares in a mix of patterns. The Surf N Swim collection has so many great papers, I wanted to use as many of them as I could. I also wanted to add in a few coordinating papers that I made using white cardstock and ColorBox Pigment Ink. Some of the designs were stamped straight on the white cardstock squares while others  were stamped on backgrounds tinted using ColorBox Pigment Inks applied with Stylus & Tip.

The background kraft cardstocks looked a little plain, so I used a template from Crafter’s Workshop and ColorBox Pigment Ink, again applied using the Stylus & Tip, to add some random designs.

The photos are framed with printed paper and cardstock sticker strips from Trinity Paper Arts.

The title was stamped on some white denim that was cut from an old pair of jeans. It was spritzed using several Colors of Smooch Spritz, then the title was stamped with ColorBox Pigment Ink.

Supplies:

Clearsnap:

ColorBox Queties Pigment Ink: Seaside

ColorBox Pigment Ink: Frost White, French Blue, Cyan, Harbor, Canary, Marigold, Orange and Scarlet

ColorBox Stylus & Tip

Smooch Spritz: Sun Kissed, Carrot Cake and Sea Kiss

Color Catcher

Trinity Paper Arts:

Surf N Swim Collection

Other:

Crafter’s Workshop: Chicken Wire Template

My Sentiments Exactly: Old World Lower & Numbers and Romantic Caps

The {Stamps} Of Life: Flower2Doodle

Hero Art: Lattice, Zig Zag and Lotus & Leaves

Stampendous: Geo Bubbles

Bazzill: Kraft and White Cardstocks

school days layout…

i’d like to share my montly design team project for the CLEARSNAP BLOG with you…

I love school supplies, well, now I call them “office” supplies, but it’s the same thing: notebook paper, pens, paper clips, staplers, hole punches, and all the other little doo-dads you can find at the office supply stores. I also collect vintage supplies, those are my favorites!

So, when Hampton Art released their new stamp sets for Graphic 45’s ABC Primer collection, I just had to have them. My son’s 4th grade school photos gave me the perfect chance to use them. But the photo was a little on the “bright” side to say the least, so it was a bit of a challenge to bring in the vintage touches I like but balance them with the crisp, primary colors in the photo.

The first thing I reached for was my ColorBox Premium Dye Inks by Stephanie Barnard; they are bright, vivid and clear and would work well with the colors in the photo. The next things I gathered up were some school themed stamps; including the ABC Primer stamps. Black and kraft cardstocks would serve as a base; black to set off the photo and kraft to lend a vintage feel. Then I found a few patterned papers that would fit in with the layout. For embellishments, I noticed that some felt flowers by Epiphany Crafts matched perfectly with the background color of the photo. Baker’s twine in red and brown worked with the theme and colors as well.

Here’s how all these supplies came together…

The colors coordinate with the photo, but their style along with the stamps used, embellishment choices and the distressing, make it a little vintage too.

here are a few closeups of all the little details…

If you’d like all the directions on how you can create this layout yourself, just hop on over to the CLEARSNAP BLOG!
thanks for letting me share this project with you!

retreat classes…

i will be teaching 2 classes at a retreat hosted by SCRAPBOOKING FACTORY on saturday, january 15th…

the retreat will be held at the Marriott at IH10 & 1604. the retreat is currently listed as full, but you do not have to attend the retreat in order to take either or both of these classes – although preference is given to attendees. kits for both classes – which will include photos and directions – are available as well.

the first class is an 8 page, 8 X 8 mini album featuring the LUSH line by My Minds Eye; the album is made of a heavy-weight chipboard and the covers are flocked {your choice of covers}. the album also includes handmade embellishments made from black shrink film, courtesy of GRAFIX

the second class will be a 2 FOR 1 deal! we’ll be making BOTH the “i love you truly” wall decor project AND the “i love u more” 2 page layout – both featuring papers and embellishments from Bo Bunny…

there will also be two layout kits offered, i’m still finishing up one kit, but here is the other one…

this layout – “10 things i love about you”, features papers and embellishments from Basic Grey’s Sugar Rush line.

if you are interested in attending any of these classes, or would like kits, please contact JANE at 210-857-8697 for more information or to sign up.

Scrapbooking Factory is also now accepting sign ups for 3 of their upcoming retreats: February 18-20 at the Marriott, March 25-27 at the Downtown Doubletree and a special retreat March 11-13 at the Rockin R in Temple, Texas. I’ll be listing class info for these retreats soon!

thanks!

and MORE new kits…

since i’m planning on taking december off {we’ll see how that goes!} i was trying to get things cleaned up and projects finished up so i could start with a clean slate for the new year. i KNOW it’s early to start thinking about 2011, but my philosophy is that once halloween has come and gone, you are on a STEEP, DOWNHILL slide to Christmas and New Years!

i had lots of bits and pieces leftover from classes and projects, so i decided to make MORE kits! i’ll be putting all 3 of these kits out at SCRAPBOOK 911 on monday…

cheap frills… $9.99 kit… “grateful” using papers and embellishments  from Teresa Collins’ Give Thanks line…

{page one of this layout has a pale ivory background that doesn’t show up too well in the scan}

another cheap frills… $9.99 kit… “scarecrow” using papers and embellishments from Bella BLVD’s One Fall Day line…

and, last but not least, “birthday star” using papers and embellishments from Teresa Collins’ Celebrate line…

{the kit is $12.99 and comes in 2 versions, kids and adults; the tags are different. the kid version is shown}

here are the tags that are included in the adult version of the kit…

and, there were still a few of the “blessed house” wall decor kits left; which are nice to display any time of the year and could be a thoughtful gift idea…

if you aren’t in san antonio, Scrapbook 911 does ship. so if you ever see any kits or class projects posted here that you are interested in, just e-mail me, or give SCRAPBOOK 911 a call.

all of the kits, and most of my class projects {except altered books and a few others} include full color photos and complete directions. and the pieces are pretty much all precut too, which means they are quick and easy to put together.

i still have MORE goodies in my “kit” stash, so there may be a few more kits posted before the month is out!

new webster’s pages…

SCRAPBOOK 911 got in several of the NEW Webster’s Pages lines and they were SO pretty, i just had to play with them!

i did this sample layout using papers and embellishments from Lullaby Lane and Life’s Portrait lines…

i love cutting little bits out of printed papers and collaging them, and these lines are perfect to do that with. i added some of the cute Bloomer trim in the bottom right of the layout – they look like pretty roses – when they don’t get smashed on a scanner!

i think these papers and embellishments would be beautiful for heritage pages or even sweet pics of your favorite little girl. there are lots of ways to mix and match the double sided papers.

i did use the distress stickles in rock candy on some of the flowers, butterflies and accents, but it doesn’t really show up in the photos.

most of the details don’t show up real well in the layout view either, so here are a few close-ups…

i cut out this motif from a printed paper, and also cut out the border and butterfly that accent it. i used the border as kind of a “signpost” to place all the tiny stickers on – i LOVE those!

this close-up shows the rose panel piece complete with “chandelier” that i cut out and slid under the diecut paper. the cut out “completes” a similar design on the die cut paper and makes it look like the roses came under the border.

here, another piece of that rose paper repeats and echoes the pattern again. and the peach roses from the bloomers trim are in the bottom corner – but they were SQUISHED when i scanned the page. I also cut along the scroll design in order to slip the photo mat ends behind it.

and here,  you can see where i cut along the scroll pattern so that i could slip the edge of the diecut paper behind it. i also cut out the roses in the corner and added them on 3D dots.

tfl!
