{merry} christmas canvas on the TCW blog…

hello!

are you getting things checked off your holiday list? mine are being ticked off VERY SLOWLY! Christmas seems to come faster and faster every year. the more i try to be prepared, the less prepared i feel!

i did manage to finish a canvas that i started in my altered canvas class last month. it even has a PHOTO on it! we went to a tree farm and found a very fat, very “crazy” Christmas tree! it is definitely different, but that is why we liked it. i snapped a photo of the hubbie and kids standing in front of it before we chopped it down. it went perfect with the canvas colors {i wonder how THAT happened – surely i didn’t select the clothes JUST to match the canvas – or did i! LOL!}

here is a pic of the finished canvas…

thanks, and if i don’t get a chance to post again…

have a merry CHRISTmas…

i’ve put together a Snapguide that shows how to make these step-by-step in both written and photo directions. you can view the project and get the link to the Snapguide by visiting the post here: EMBOSSED METAL ORNAMENTS – TCW BLOG

creative canvas class

hi!

i’ve finished the sample for the Creative Canvas Class and dropped it by Scrapbook N’ More today. coincidentally, susan was pricing and stocking a HUGE order of stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop! lots of GREAT designs!

here are the deets for the class:

date: saturday, nov. 8

time: 12:00 to 4:30

cost: $35

supplies: 4X6 or 5 X 5 photo, zip dry or 3-in-1 glue {or both if you have them}, 3D foam squares or tape andu heat gun {there will be a few heat guns you can use in class, but you’ll be doing a LOT of drying, so bring your own if you have one!}

and here is my sample canvas, along with some closeup shots of the details – you can click on it to enlarge…

ccc collage

YOUR canvas won’t look just like mine – unless you want it to. YOU will select your own ink colors, stencils and accessories to create your own UNIQUE canvas. before you start on your own canvas, i’ll show you some simple techniques so you can learn how to add layers of ink and patterns to add depth to your project and we’ll also work on techniques for adding texture.

i have DOZENS of stencils in all sorts of designs, patterns and themes from The Crafter’s Workshop for you to use…

ccc - stencils (1024x768)

i also have lots of pigment inks in gorgeous rich, creamy colors – Mix’d Media Inx from Clearsnap…

ccc - mmi (1024x768)

as well as some specialty inks from Aladine, distributed by Clearsnap, Izinks – which are a hybrid mix of ink and paint and come in beautiful shimmery colors…

ccc - izink (1024x768)

you’ll also learn how to hand-dye vintage seam binding to use on your canvas too…

ccc - ribbon (1024x768)

you’ll  get to select accent ribbons, jute and cording as well as vintage trinkets and treasures to use to embellish and customize your canvas. i’ll have other embellishments to select from, so if keys and tape measures aren’t your thing, you can choose something else.

the class lasts 4 1/2 hours, so you’ll have lots of time to work on your project.

there is also a crop that night, and i’ll be hosting it! so you can plan to come and play all day if you like.

the crop will be from 5:00 to 11:00 and is $10. but if you sign up and pay by wednesday, november 5, you’ll get a $5 coupon that you can use to shop with crop night!

if you have unfinished “tami” projects like altered books, photoFULL or money $aving layout classes, bring them and i’ll be glad to help you with them. {if you want to work on an altered book, if you’ll use the contact me form at the top and let me know which book, i may be able to bring the sample book.}

an altered canvas makes a great gift, and the holidays are right around the corner! so keep gifting in mind when contemplating what photo and theme you would like to do.

hi ya! you have arrived at my blog: tami sanders * paper crafter, you should have just come from the Flores Tanis Studio Blog – welcome!

my project is a memo board made using the 12 X 12 Scrapbook Page Mount from Smoothfoam and inks and more from Clearsnap

clearsnap_smoothfoam_blog hop_tami sanders_crafters ink_colorbox_dorm deco_memo board - wm

i needed a lightweight memo board that would easily attach to a cabinet in my studio without damaging it. i didn’t want to use a nail or something similar, i was thinking more along the lines of poster tac or one of those non-damaging hooks. most traditional memo boards are too heavy to attach that way.

i started with a plain piece of unbleached canvas, then spritzed it using several different colors of ColorBox® Spritzers: Pumpkin Pie, Pinkolicious, Lemon Drop, Mermaid and Grasshopper, the added a stenciled pattern using Black ColorBox® Crafter’s Ink applied using the ColorBox® Stylus & Tips.

i think this board would well in dorm rooms also; where you have to be careful not to damage the walls.

i put together a Snapguide that shows how to make this project step-by-step, you can view it here…

Here is the HOP LIST…

if you jumped in at the middle, or just happened to stumple upon the hop, please begin at the Smoothfoam Blog.

Temporary Tattoos…

hi ya!

having a good summer so far?

enjoying the SUN and the HEAT?

are you showing a bit more skin?

want to bLinG-uP that exposed epidermis?

how about a tattoo?

not a permanent one – not a REAL commitment, just a temporary one for a little fun. Clearsnap has introduced ColorBox Temporary Tattoo Inkpads. they come in 3 colors: Storm {blue}, Spicy {Red} and Shadow {black}. i was anxious to pair these inks with stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop. i thought it would be a great match. an easy way to create a pretty tattoo to enjoy for awhile, then wash away with a little soap and water.

i’d had this idea in mind for a time, but hadn’t tried it out yet. i needed a volunteer! enter my neice Talia. Talia came down to visit us this weekend and as luck would have it, i received a nice, big box of TCW’s latest and greatest! OMGOODNESS! you will NOT believe all the fabulous brand spanking new designs! they are shipping to stores now, so prepare to be WOWED! you can check out the styles here: NEW SUMMER 2014 RELEASES – all the new designs are on the front page. one of the new designs immediately caught my eye as i knew it would work beautifully as a tattoo – TCW499 Koi Pond

koi tatoo supplies use (1024x683)

the stencil actually has 3 beautifully executed koi on it along with sets of lily pads. i used the 6 X 6 size for this project, but it is also available in 12 X 12. the hardest part of this project was finding tape that stuck to the skin that didn’t REALLY stick. painters tape didn’t work at all, so i tried some first aid tape, it seemed to work ok. but i would experiment on yourself with the tape before you tried it on a child. ouchless bandaids would probably work well too. the stencil needs to be held in place securely, especially if it is to be wrapped around an arm. don’t worry if the center of the stencil doesn’t lay flat. as long as it is held in place at the outer edges, you can gently hold the center sections in place while you ink. the ColorBox Stylus & Tips certainly makes this process easier – just dab in the ink, then dab on the skin. but you could use a makeup sponge or other small craft sponge if you didn’t have a stylus on hand. you do want to dab – not rub at the ink. you are less likely to get ink up under the stencil if you just dab the colors on.

talias tattoo, TCW stencils, Clearsnap, ColorBox Temporary Tattoo Inkpad, Tattoo Inks, Tattoo stamping, stamped tattoo, temporary tattoo, kids tattoo, tcw stencils, the crafter's workshop, koi tattoo, koi stencil

for this particular design, i started with the Scarlet ink at the center, then shaded with the Storm ink

talias tattoo cu

you could add more detail using a sharpie or permanent marker – but i would recommend that for adults only as it will take more that soap and water to wash that off! the ColorBox Temporary Tattoo Ink is a FABULOUS alternative to paint, especially for kids. kids LOVE to have their faces, arms, etc painted, but 5 minutes later the paint has dried and their skin is getting itchy and they want to start rubbing and scratching at it. you don’t get any of that with the Temporary Tattoo Ink – it just feels like skin, like when you get your hand stamped. and speaking of stamps, you can also TOTALLY use these inks with stamps. in fact, Clearsnap makes several lines of stamps to go with the inks: My First ColorBox Mini Stamps, ColorBox Souvenir Stamps and if you are into sports, there is also a NCAA licensed line of stamps and more.

ColorBox Temporary Tattoo Inks are also available in a multitude of school colors, so if you want to go beyond the basic red, blue and black, check out the school colors. also think of suggesting these inks and stencils in place of using paint at your next school function! quick, easy, less mess and the kids won’t be itching, scratching and transferring paint to their clothes.

for a henna style tattoo, select a design from among the VAST variety of TCW stencils, then pair with the Texas Tattoo Inkpad – the burnt orange color should be just about right!

enjoy the rest of your summer — it’s going QUICK!
