well the Heirloom Productions Rubber Stamp & Paper Arts Festival is all over. it was a small show vendor-wise, but shoppers seemed abundant and lots stayed for crops and classes. my make & take table was BUZZING saturday; i was busy the whole time.

we made a tag using stamps from Paper Wings Productions and ColorBox Archival Dye Inks from Clearsnap…

reminder…

just a quick reminder about my class this saturday, july 9th at the Heirloom Productions Stamp & Paper Arts Festival in new braunfels

i will be teaching a class during the Heirloom Productions Rubber Stamp & Paper Arts Festival in New Braunfels.

the show runs the weekend of july 9th and 10th, and my class will be from 1-3* on saturday. *(updated time)

carrie avery, owner of Paper Wings Productions, is sponsoring the class and we will be using her fabulous stamps and clip art embellishments during the class.

we will be using LOTS of other great products and inks in the class too…

ColorBox Pigment Ink, Dye Ink and Chalk Ink, ColorBox Spritzers, ColorBox Embossing PowderColorBox Stylus & Tips as well as the NEW! ColorBox Pearl Rain Spray, all provided by Clearsnap, will add color, texture and some BLiNg to your stamping. while Zip Dry and 3-in-1 Glue, provided by Beacon Adhesives, will be used to assemble your projects.

here’s what we will be making…

we will be learning a variety of stamping techniques in this class including: using stamps, inks and sprays to create background designs, how to add layering and texture to your projects, an easy stamped ombre effect, what to do with ink left on stamps or surfaces, distressing and heat embossing.

although this is a 2 hour class, the first half will be devoted to stamping and inking all pieces, while the second half will be assembly. so if you prefer to finish your piece at home, you can leave after the first half and get back to the show!

tickets for the show are available online in advance at Heirloom Productions,  you can also purchase advance tickets at Scrapbook n’ More in New Braunfels. tickets can also be purchased at the door for a slightly higher rate.

stop by the PAPER WING PRODUCTIONS booth between 10 and 12 on saturday before the class to join us for a make & take, where we will be creating this tag…

hope to see you there!

Beacon Adhesives

why i use and recommend Beacon Adhesives like Zip Dry and 3-in-1 Glue

i was working on a quick project tonight and grabbed a friend’s glue because it was handy. brand – not important – it IS a major brand glue recommended for paper crafting.

i was just gluing some cardstock to cover a composition book. figured how bad could the glue be? well it was THIS bad…

what you see in the above photos is:

1) glue lines showing through.

2) residue from the glue that leaked out under the edges which were then spread on my cover when i smoothed the cardstock down. the whitish residue won’t come off.

SO, i got up, walked to the other room and GOT MY ZIP DRY!!!

and glued on the back cover in the exact same manner as the front. and the result?

do you see any glue lines? residue? NO! and THAT is why i use and recommend BEACON ADHESIVES!!!

any stray glue leakage rubs off, paper is nice and smooth.

thanks for letting me share my glue drama!

krafting with kids!

my neice talia is visiting us this week and she is a krafty kid who likes to scrapbook and play with paper, glue and bLiNg!

i had made a canvas collage for my sister-in-law, talia’s mom, for mother’s day and talia wanted to make something like it to decorate her locker at school….

family collage (470x800)

{this project was posted on the Clearsnap Blog on 5/8/2013: Home & Family Canvas Collage – you can find the complete supplies and general project directions there.}

talia started with a base coat of some light colors of ColorBox Pigment Ink as a backdrop for her canvas. using the ColorBox Stylus & Tips made inking the canvas easier and a lot less messy! the inks were then given a few swipes and smudges with a clean paper towel to blend the colors together at the edges.

talia then chose some templates from The Crafter’s Workshop to use to add MORE depth to her background. ColorBox Stylus & Tips were again used to apply the ink.

after the inks dried, talia then diecut some glitter paper using dies from Spellbinders and layered them with some 3D stickers.

Zip Dry from Beacon is a VERY forgiving glue as any excess “ooze” can be cleaned up quickly and easily so it’s a good choice for kids over age 8 or so {and those of us over 8 who are messy crafters!} and since talia is a little older, i let her use Beacon’s 3-in-1 glue as well as it is GREAT for trims, flowers and embellies. it is a quick grab glue, so it works fast!

flowers, rhinestones, glitter chipboard letters and some trims were added and a ribbon for hanging was the finishing touch.

here are some pics of the process and the finished project…

talia 1 (683x1024)  talia 2 (683x1024)  talia 4 (683x1024)  talia 7 (1024x683)  talia 8 (1024x683)talia 5 (1024x683)  talia 6 (1024x683)

there’s still time to crank out a few craft items with your kiddos before summer is O-FFICIALLY OVER :(

and decor for their lockers or embellishing bland and boring folders and notebooks for back to school are great project ideas!
