UPDATE: dicken’s christmas altered book class

the book is all finished! YAY!

signups for the class have been going well and the class is almost half full already – thanks to those who signed up early!

so without further ado, here are pics of the next book in my altered book series… dicken’s christmas {click to enlarge}

dickens christmas collage 1 - use me

dickens christmas - collage 2

if you have been wanting to try one of my altered book classes, this would be a good one to start with. i’ve kept the structure of the book simple, but we are doing more embellishment and more stamping and inking. I’m hoping the balance will still make the project challenging for my “regulars”.

the “centerfold”, always a main attraction in my books, is something special in this book. the center opens up to reveal a “countdown to christmas”, which consists of 12 mini postcard pockets which hold tags. you can jot down treats or activities that your kids or family can reveal one day at a time.

the book is full of goodies from my “junque” stash: ribbons, charms, flowers, tags, a vintage postcard, christmas trims and custom printed ephemera.

you can view the complete supply list HERE.

in addition to the general supplies, i am recommending a few extra supplies. these are not NEEDED to complete the project, just suggested if you would like to amp up the bLiNg factor! all of these items, as well as most of the general supplies, are available at Scrapbook n’ More. if you would like any of the recommended supplies (or even any general ones), you can call ahead to reserve them to make sure they are available for you to pick up the day of the class. limited quantites MAY be available the day of the class if they are not all sold in preorders.

NEW! ColorBox Teresa Collins Pigment Inks

Gold Shine and Platinum Silver – great new metallic colors that will add a pretty glimmer and shimmer to any of your holiday projects…

i used these inks to distress the edges of the photo mats, tags and some of the printed papers pieces…

bling 3   bling 5 bling 2

ColorBox Stylus & Tips, great to use to apply inks to paper and embellishments – especially when using full size inkpads…

the styluses & tips are available in packs or individually – just ask.

and lastly, Smooch Glitz in Frost, Smooch Glitz is an easy way to add glitter accents to your projects. you can use on porous or non-porous surfaces. quick drying, you can add multiple layers to add even MORE shimmer!

i used the Smooch Glitz throughout the book to add some frosty glitter to snow, berries, snowflakes, flowers and more…

bling 1   bling 4

here are the details for the class:

Dicken’s Christmas Altered Book Class

saturday, november 7

12:00 to 5:00

$65

you can call Scrapbook n’ More to sign up and to reserve your “extra” class supplies at 830-214-1690.

if anyone can come a little early to class – 11:30 or so – i will get you started on stamping and inking, that will hopefully make the process quicker for the other attendees. i have a previous engagement for later in the evening, so i will need to leave by about 5:30-6:00. i am trying – more so that usual – to make sure that everything runs smoothly in class and that we get as much of the book finished as we can during class time. PLEASE DON’T think you are going to miss anything if you don’t come early! but PLEASE DO be on time!

for those of you who have not taken an altered book class from me before, we always finish the basic structure of the book and anything that needs to be done DURING class. but usually a lot of the finishing – adding ribbons, bits, tags, etc. is done on your own. i do provide complete written directions with full color photos to make finishing the project simple. i also leave the sample book at the store for those that want to come in and work on their book there.

if you can’t make the class, kits are available for $70. the extra $5 fee covers extra prep to finish stamping and such for you that is usually done in class.

Clearsnap & Tombow Blog Hop!

11146305_10153219326871322_2324917973491212760_n

Hello and Welcome to the Tombow USA and Clearsnap Blog Hop!

For this hop we swapped products that were made for each other: Tombow Adhesives and Clearsnap Foils!

On this hop we will share easy, affordable and fun ways to use Clearsnap’s Designer Foils with Tombow adhesive as well as other fun ways Tombow and Clearsnap products work together. “Stick” with us for the next two days to be inspired!

You probably got here from Suzanne Austin’s blog but if you just stumbled across my blog

go the Tombow USA Blog (on Friday) or the Clearsnap Blog (On Saturday) to start!

NOW… here’s my project!

hello hoppers! welcome to my blog!

i have a sweet and feminine Mother’s Day project to share with you; this framed quote for Mom…

framed mother quote - tami sanders - foil technique - WM

i used a foiling technique similar to one Jennifer Priest shared on her blog: CHIC FOIL PRINTING WITH CLEARSNAP to add a little bLiNg! to my frame. i wanted the project to be soft and “frilly” with a peaches and cream color scheme and a little touch of GOLD.

foil accents are HOT right now, not only crafting but in fashion as well. Clearsnap makes a product called Design Foils which come in several colors and makes it easy for you to add a fashionable-foil accent to your projects.

to add the zig zag foiled elements to my frame, i used Tombo Mono Multi Liquid Glue and ColorBox® Chevrons Art Screen. the stencil was taped over the painted frame and then the design was filled in with thin lines of glue. a paintbrush was used to spread the glue to fill in the designs completely. then the stencil was removed and the frame set aside to let the glue dry. you’ll know it’s dry when it turns from white to clear. then, the foil was placed over the glued designs and rubbed to transfer the foil. quick, easy and best of all NEAT! no loose gold flakes to deal with.

Izink Inks were used to paint the frame. Izink Inks are a hybrid of ink and acrylic paint so they cover well and are quick to dry. they also come in lots of VIVID colors.

the paper flowers were given a kiss of peach using Peach Pastel ColorBox® Cat’s Eye Chalk Ink. the flowers and button accents were adhered to the frame using Tombo Adhesive Dots. some of the buttons that had an uneven bottom or shank remnant were adhered using Tombo Foam Tape.

the background paper for the quote was made by inking white cardstock with Banana Custard® ColorBox Pigment Ink applied using the ColorBox® Stylus & Tips. the paper was then given a sprinkling of butterflies stamped in Dune Pigment Ink. the finished paper was adhered to the frame backing using Tombo Extreme Adhesive.

the overlay was done using Computer Grafix by Grafix.

i’ve put together a Snapguide that shows how you can make this project step-by-step in both photo and written directions… Check out this guide on Snapguide

Clearsnap & Ann Butler Blog Hop!

Ann Butler Clearsnap Blog Hop 2015

Welcome to a LOVEly blog hop with Clearsnap and Ann Butler Designs! Last month at the CHA trade show, we released a new collection of foam and rubber stamps with Ann Butler Designs, called Background Basics, to compliment her line of ColorBox Crafter’s Inks and her existing faux quilting stamp lines. Today, our teams are sharing Valentine craft ideas you can make tonight for your special someone for Valentine’s Day.

hello! you have arrived at my blog – tami sanders * paper crafter, on your hop with Clearsnap and Ann Butler!

if you just stumbled upon the hop, please check out the list below so you can start at the beginning.

i’d like to share my “gifty” Valentine project with you. this {LOVE} banner can be used for decor, gifting or BOTH…

love banner - ann butler,colorbox,clearsnap,crafter's ink,blog hop,valentine,love,tami sanders - WM

the banner was made by stamping denim and canvas with the…

NEW! Ann Butler ColorBox Background Basics Stamps, ColorBox Crafter’s Inks and Art Screens.

the stamped pieces were cut apart and adhered to chipboard to mimic little quilted bits. the white denim jeans i was cutting apart for fabric had adorable little pink stitched hearts on the pockets, so i decided to use one of the pockets in the banner. you could make 4 hearts if you don’t have a pocket handy.

to make this banner a gift, write a love note or coupon for dinner, movie, etc on the tag in the pocket. if you are’t using the pocket, just make one or ALL of the chipboard hearts into a pocket by adding another chipboard heart to the back of each and leave the top open.

i’ve put together a Snapguide that lists all the supplies and step-by-step directions – with photos that you need to make this banner yourself…

Check out this guide on Snapguide

Now click-along to each blog in the hop and leave a comment on each post. Then, use the Rafflectoper widget at the end of this post to win an assortment of Ann Butler Designs’ new Background Basics stamps with Clearsnap!

dia de los muertos

hi all!

today is dia de los muertos or day of the dead – a day to remember and celebrate the lives of friends and family who have passed on.

although dancing skeletons and grinning skulls could be considered macabre, they are usually decked out in colorful costumes and bright colors.

favorite foods and personal items are gathered and placed around photos of departed loved ones in remembrance. picnics are held on grave sites lavished with flowers.

in honor of the day, i made an embossed metal “sugar skull” using a stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop and Izink Inks from Clearsnap…

sugar skull wm (1251x1280)

you can find more info as well as a link to the Snapguide showing how to make this project on The Crafter’s Workshop Blog: Sugar Skull

take to time reflect on the lives of those you miss today…

creative canvas class

hi!

i’ve finished the sample for the Creative Canvas Class and dropped it by Scrapbook N’ More today. coincidentally, susan was pricing and stocking a HUGE order of stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop! lots of GREAT designs!

here are the deets for the class:

date: saturday, nov. 8

time: 12:00 to 4:30

cost: $35

supplies: 4X6 or 5 X 5 photo, zip dry or 3-in-1 glue {or both if you have them}, 3D foam squares or tape andu heat gun {there will be a few heat guns you can use in class, but you’ll be doing a LOT of drying, so bring your own if you have one!}

and here is my sample canvas, along with some closeup shots of the details – you can click on it to enlarge…

ccc collage

YOUR canvas won’t look just like mine – unless you want it to. YOU will select your own ink colors, stencils and accessories to create your own UNIQUE canvas. before you start on your own canvas, i’ll show you some simple techniques so you can learn how to add layers of ink and patterns to add depth to your project and we’ll also work on techniques for adding texture.

i have DOZENS of stencils in all sorts of designs, patterns and themes from The Crafter’s Workshop for you to use…

ccc - ribbon (1024x768)

you’ll  get to select accent ribbons, jute and cording as well as vintage trinkets and treasures to use to embellish and customize your canvas. i’ll have other embellishments to select from, so if keys and tape measures aren’t your thing, you can choose something else.

the class lasts 4 1/2 hours, so you’ll have lots of time to work on your project.

there is also a crop that night, and i’ll be hosting it! so you can plan to come and play all day if you like.

the crop will be from 5:00 to 11:00 and is $10. but if you sign up and pay by wednesday, november 5, you’ll get a $5 coupon that you can use to shop with crop night!

if you have unfinished “tami” projects like altered books, photoFULL or money $aving layout classes, bring them and i’ll be glad to help you with them. {if you want to work on an altered book, if you’ll use the contact me form at the top and let me know which book, i may be able to bring the sample book.}

an altered canvas makes a great gift, and the holidays are right around the corner! so keep gifting in mind when contemplating what photo and theme you would like to do.
